The Lady Hawks had more PR’s in last week’s Wimberley Texan Track Meet, but having a spring break in between those last two meets did have several athletes taking a step backwards with their marks.

Canyon Lake won a game that was needed to the Nth degree and Griffen Williams helped with the greatest hitting night in The Lake’s History.
The Griff was 5 for 5 with 3 home runs while batting in 11 helping take a lead (3-0) in the first inning. Then another home run that regained the lead, (9-6) and for a little extra spice had a Grand Slam for the eventual victory, 17-11 during his last plate appearance.
Looking at the line-score below showing two schools in a heavy weight fight as each inning but one had just one school scoring runs.
INNINGS The 1st: A quick 1-2-3 for Pitcher Griffen Williams. A quick 1-Double Chase-2-Bunt Single Hunter-3 Run Homer Batter Griffen. The 2nd: Done in with 2 errors and Texan’s tie it up at 3 runs. Hawks left one on base and no hits. The 3rd: WHS scored 3 runs & bases loaded/one out. A Brayden Welch catch and throw double play from the outfield to home plate. Stopped the bleeding, 6-3 Wimbo. Hawks left 2 on base by walk and a Griffen single. The 4th: A Luke Roskin pick-off on 1st helped CL escape unscathed but still trailing. Chase single driving in Michael (Anderson) then Griff’s 2nd 3-run homer. Hawks score 6 runs and retake lead, 9-6. The 5th: A quick 1-2-3 inning for Pitcher Luke Roskin. Start inning with two K’s then next 7 Hawks reach base & score 4 runs, 13-6. The 6th: Two solo home-runs and another error helped Texan’s score 5 runs, 13-11. Knocked out Punch via Griffen’s Grand Slam. Hawks increase lead, 17-11. The 7th: Griffen returns to mound & faces 4 Texans with on damage. HAWK’S WIN!
Do note that the team needed to reach base in order for Griffen to have a chance to add an exclamation point to this game.
It was a must win game for your Hawks and as the game progressed many fans were seen going to the parking lot when Griffen came to bat.
The Reason? Moving vehicles so the Baseball Size Hail would not damage property.
Griffen Williams’ 11 rbi’s, stand alone, tied the Wimberley offense and Canyon Lake finishing off their final district foe in Bandera before District 27-4A reverts back to previous district round robins with a two game weekly series.
