CL Hawks Clean Back Bone in Win over Texans, 33-14

Canyon Lake brought the Back-Bone Trophy back home after disposing Wimberley, 33-14 as the Hawks won their first road contest against our neighbors to the north and start the season 3-0.

At the 6:44 mark of the 2nd quarter, Canyon Lake had totaled 12 yards of offense as Wimberley’s defense was in the Hawk’s huddle and this contest was starting to get long in the tooth.

CL Hawks Straighten the Back-Bone in Win over Wimberley

Canyon Lake brought the Back-Bone Trophy back home after disposing Wimberley 33-14 as the Hawks won their first road contest against our neighbors to the north.

This game was highlighted by a 93 yard pass play when Peyton McMullen found a wide open Chance Martelli for the score.

CL would showcase Jacob Ruff after a 222 yard rushing night that help cement the win scoring 3 touchdowns totaling 82 yards on those three scores.

JV Hawks Can’t Finish in Loss to Wimberley, 36-20

Canyon Lake’s Junior Varsity could not mainstay their momentum after a barrage of rushing yardage by Wimberley in losing, 36-20 on Thursday night.

CL Hawks Take Weiss by Storm, 20-3

Canyon Lake took the reins starting the 2nd Half and beat the Weiss Wolves by storm, 20-3 as the Hawks will ready themselves for their first road game in Wimberley next week.

Hawks Goose Egg the Mustangs, 22-0

Canyon Lake scored all the points needed on a 5 play drive covering 56 yards to start this game and Connor Rose ran 19 yards to pay-dirt and a 7 point lead.

The Hawks added a 26 yard field goal off the foot of Trenton Lorett and finished off that first quarter with a 44 yard run by Jacob Ruff, 16-0

MFJV’s Defense Scores 2 TD’s in Win over Hawks, 24-21

                     Patrick Almond plays Where’s Waldo on his Touchdown run against Marble Falls.

 

Canyon Lake won their game over Marble Falls if you don’t count defensive touchdowns. Since that rule has not made it through UIL protocol, then CL will count this first contest as a loss after a final score, 24-21.

“Our team played a great game against a good team,” Head JV Coach Robert Soza said. “Our defense played outstanding and we will need to have a good week of work in preparation for our next game.”

CL Hawk Freshman Miss Win by 2 Seconds to Marble Falls, 30-26

Canyon Lake’s Freshman Football team started their first game on the High School level with a loss after Marble Falls took this game with 2 seconds left on the clock for the victory, 26-30.

Up until that time, this Freshman Hawk team had survived a mistake ridden contest with a chance to come away with a hard fought win.

CL Hawks JV Win Barnburner Over Johnson City

      Olivia Robinson and Sara Mefford teamed up in barnburner win over Johnson City.

Canyon Lake JV team was night and day different, in their win over Johnson City Eagles, sweeping the last two sets after starting this night with a less than inspiring start to the game.

Opening Curtain Next Friday after Final Scrimmage

            Senior Connor Rose using his speed in scrimmage with Orange Grove.

Canyon Lake had their final rehearsal on a Thursday in Cuero when they met Orange Grove at a neutral site for these two schools that are separated by 173 miles.

This rehearsal was a success with no broken legs (acting vernacular) after a short week of practice and an opening scrimmage with Cuero the week before.

CL Hawks Win Silver Bracket Consolation in Rattler Tourney

       Mariah Haight and Paige Bower still smiling after a long day of work during the Rattler Tourney.

Canyon Lake won Consolation in the Silver Bracket on Saturday after disposing Cal Allen in a two set sweep, 25-13 and 25-22 this past Saturday.

The Hawks finished their Rattler Tournament with a 4-2 record and now stand with an, 11-10 season record after their final tournament play for this season.
