Signature Homes says, Go Hawks!!
Canyon Lake will welcome Fredericksburg to the Hawk Nest this week as both teams are sharing their first place status with Lampasas atop District 28-4A play.
The winner will certainly be entrenched with a play-off spot with a chance of a 1st or 2nd seed heading into post-season play.
Both schools have two common opponents that had the same result….a loss to Wimberley and wins over Taylor.
This Billie team comes into this contest with a strong offense averaging 31 points per contest and a 3 game winning streak.
Bastrop Cedar Creek has been the only game that had less than 20 points scored for Fredericksburg who has played against several big time schools. Thus far Fredericksburg’s opponents have 25-22 record and taking out a woeful Taylor Duck’s team, that record is a very respectable 25-15.
A lot of offensive weapons in those skill positions with Tucker Elliot taking snaps as a dual threat by a pass or running, as Elliot has accounted for 1904 yards, as this QB is their leading rusher with 111 carries as well as catching a pass albeit for 3 yards. This shows how versatile this player will be as a force to be accounted for.
Receiving honors goes to a player that was a thorn in the Hawks side last season, Jarrett Beard who has 44 catches accounting for 770 yards and 12 touchdowns thus far. The Billies have three other receivers that have topped over 100 yards with Judson Beard leading this trio with 254 yards followed by Josh Wienecke (153) and Dylan Ahrens (135) yards.

Let’s Go Hawks!!
Canyon Lake’s defense will need to be on their ‘A’ game and has a decent track record in allowing 16 points per contest this year and under 10 points in their last three outings.
A hot and cold offense that seems to be heating up from their lukewarm tendencies scoring 68 points during the last two weeks after a bye week.
James Bates has been the go to runner with 672 yards on the ground after being brought up from Junior Varsity and reaching starting status after a Hawk injury.
Most of CL’s slot-t yardage is done by committee for the most part as there has been other leading rushers this season with Ethan Slater having his best outing against Burnet and Nic Rivera leading the rushing brigade against Taylor two weeks ago.
QB Peyton McMullen will need to up his game as the Hawk’s aerial attack has not been a threat this year as of yet. Certainly has potential but up to this point of this season a non-factor.
That has led to Canyon Lake receiving help from their defense this year. The Lake has 4 wins that has come by 10 points or less.
This should be a good game with both schools shooting for a chance of winning district. Go Hawks!!
