Friday, September 7th, 2012Pre/Game: Bracken vs. Sugar Land Logos Prep
Wednesday, September 5th, 2012Sugar Land Logos Prep @ Bracken Christian Lions (0-1) Warriors (1-0)
History: This will be the first game played between the two schools.
This Year's Results: BCS 56 Austin Hill Country 06 Calvert 40 Logos 38
Sugar Land Logos team were beat last week, but the game was a squeaker by two points to a perennial UIL squad.
The season is still too young to take a lot away from a team’s first game, but just from a first look, Logos Prep did well considering how weak their district has been the past several years.
That loss certainly gives this team an inside track to a district championship. Especially with the departure of Tomball Christian to 11-man this year.
Six-man football is a hard sport to find enough information to make an article to give the fans ideas of what too watch for in their game for that week.
Hawks make Lytle Pirates walk the Plank in Sweep
Tuesday, September 4th, 2012Canyon Lake Volleyball team sent Lytle off the plank with a resounding three game sweep in the Varsity game as well as two, two game sweeps in the Freshman and Junior Varsity game.
The Freshman girls spotted the Pirates a 6-1 lead to start the first game and then only gave up three more points for the game as only five girls were called on to serve.
Caitlin Mabry was the player that sent the Pirates in a tailspin with 11 serving points and six of those points being scored on aces.
In the second game Mabry kept up that pace with nine more points serving and another five aces.
“Really working hard in practice,” Mabry stated.
On whether she was tired after serving so much, “Tired? Not really.”

Volleyball: Coaches Corner with Nicole Creek
Monday, September 3rd, 2012Canyon Lake Volleyball team continues to play over .500 ball this season.
That is good news as Head Coach Nicole Creek has scheduled some tough teams in tournament action.
The Hawks won in Blanco last Friday night in four games and then finished the San Marcos Tournament with two losses on Saturday.
The ReSporter caught up with Coach Creek for some Coaches Corner questions.
The ReSporter: The second game against Blanco your team was behind 19-13 and then proceeded to score 12 consecutive points. Is that the best run you can remember in the short history of CL Volleyball?
Coach Creek: “Yes, in game two Halley (McKnight) served and we scored 12 points in a row! Yes that I can remember it was the best run we have had.”
The ReSporter: Amber Ramsey looks like a beast on the nets the last couple of games, what is the record for kills in a season and does she have a chance to best that record at this pace?

Pre/Game: Somerset Bulldogs and Canyon Lake Hawks
Monday, September 3rd, 2012SOMERSET @ CANYON LAKE 7:30pm (1-0) (1-0)
History: Somerset leads series, 1-0 2010 Somerset 25 Canyon Lake 24 2nd round playoffs
This Year's Games: Canyon Lake 26 Blanco 21 Somerset 42 SA Lanier 21
The last time these two teams played was two years ago as Canyon Lake fell short with a field goal falling one foot short of the goal post in the second round of playoffs and no time left on the clock.
Somerset Bulldogs are coming off a 42-21 victory over San Antonio Lanier last week and you better get ready for some flying footballs this week.
Sophomore Koy Detmer Jr. will be the signal caller as his name should bring back glimpses of other Detmer’s playing their way into College Football lore.
Detmer started his first game on varsity with 353 yards passing and three receivers catching 15 throws for 232 of those yards.
Three of Detmer’s passes were from 45 yards or more and two passes scored points for the Bulldogs.
Somerset took their foot off the gas pedal in the fourth quarter as they had a 35-7 lead allowing them to coast the rest of the way.

Canyon Lake is Prepared and Driving on a Smooth Road
Wednesday, August 29th, 2012Canyon Lake will have Coaches with new job descriptions this year, but you
might not know the difference except by looking at their face. When Coach Matt Monzingo left for the Comal Athletic Director job, the brass was pretty careful on how they replaced the dominoes that fell based on that empty position.
Head Coach Charley Drum slid into his new office seamlessly and then the Hawks had to replace their Offensive and Defensive Coordinators.
Job completed and this Friday you will have a chance to see how no bumps in the road make for a smooth ride.
Defensive Coordinator Cody Means started with responding to the number of points scored on the Defense last season, “Just looking at the points scored is misleading, when we get ahead in a game, then we will let people in, kids getting to play is more important to me.”

Hawks Volleyball, Win One and Lose One
Wednesday, August 29th, 2012Canyon Lake Volleyball (10-7) finishes a three team round robin, 1-1 in La Vernia on Tuesday night.
Their first match was a win over San Antonio McCollum in four games. A second game disappearance was the only flaw.
The Hawks did win the next two games convincingly, 25-16 and 25-19.
Senior Marisa Ellis once again had a triple double leading the team with 14 kills and contributing 14 assists and 11 digs in this battle.
Freshman Halley McKnight lead the assist count with 19 and Sophomore Hayley Melone finished with 24 digs.
The Drum Beat: Q & A with Coach Charley Drum
Tuesday, August 28th, 2012Coaches Corner will now be known as Drum Beat in honor of Head Coach Charley Drum.
ReSporter: How are you feeling about your first game as Head Coach?
Coach Drum: “It is a nervous energy. it has taken forever for Friday to get here.”
ReSporter: Where is the team right now as the season looms?
Coach Drum: “I think we are further along than where we had been this time last year. Scrimmages can be a good indicator, but sometimes they’re not.
ReSporter: Tell us about this week’s game with Blanco.
Coach Drum: “They always play us tough…Tim Goodman and Colton Childress will be hard to handle in the backfield. Blanco is basically a run base offense. We are looking for football fundamentals in our game this week.”
ReSporter: How do you try to handle the beginning of this season starting with Blanco?
Coach Drum: “They will always throw a few wrinkles into the game. They do a good job of trying to keep our offense off the field with their offense, conversely we want to do the opposite.
Last year we played well for the the first two downs but we would make a mistake to help the team we were playing to keep a drive alive.”
ReSporter: Good luck Coach and we look forward to more insights this season.
