Canyon Lake Hawks have a tough schedule the first of the season. Teams from Sealy to Lavernia to Austin will all be some games that either put CLHS on the map or maybe a ghost town.
The last third of the season is what saved the team last year when the Hawks finished with a three game district win streak.
The first game up is the Wimberley Texans.
Wimberley has been picked by Texas Football Magazine as one of the winners in the 3A brackets. The game this year will have a Hawk team that will be returning from Navarro and based on last years game, Canyon Lake would like to have a solid win under their belt in district before facing the Texans.

Bracken Christian has had book-end seasons the past few years. The season starts with good teams and ends with good teams. In between the Warriors have yet to be beaten the past four years.
This time we will go over the last four games of the year.
CASA is the next game and the Warriors own a 3-0 record against the team from San Antonio. In fact, CASA has yet to play a four quarter game against BCS. All the games have been Mercy games.
This year should be no different. There has not been any reports of mutations in San Antonio that would make the players better than what the Warriors are bringing back to the field this season.

The Canyon Lake Hawks ran into a Mikesky (other synonym ‘Buzz Saw’) last Friday night at the Hawk gym, 14-25, 20-25, and 17-25.
The Mikesky sisters dominated the night in every statistical category but blocks in the game. The older sister will be heading to play at Florida University next year and the younger sister is just a freshman.
“She (L. Mikesky) was a hitter,” middle hitter Katie Williams said. “She had a big arm.”
Williams was inspired by the competition and played one of her best games of the season.

The ReSporter started the ball rolling earlier this week commenting on what type of teams Canyon Lake will be playing while also wondering if the game will be a win or loss.
The Hawks have a tough first set of games, and we will now look at the middle part of the schedule, with Austin-Travis, Luling, and Navasota.

The Canyon Lake Hawks will be performing in their second and final scrimmage Thursday in Hays at 5:30pm.
The Hawks will be playing the game during the heat of the day in preparation for the start of the season the next week.
“We are giving the kids an opportunity to prove themselves,” Head Coach Matt Monzingo said. “This game will help them to be prepared.”

The Resporter started earlier this week expounding on the Bracken Christian schedule. This will be the second in the series as we break down the next three games.
The first year Bracken played was the last time the team has lost in the middle part of their season. For the last four campaigns the Warriors have won games four-five-six-seven-eight-and nine.
This year shapes up to look the same.

The Bracken Christian Warriors Volleyball team continued their climb for a successful season as they beat San Marcos Hill Country Rams, 25-20, 25-18, and 25-15, last Tuesday night at the Warriors gym.
The Warriors continue to improve as the passing and rotation of the players has started to settle in.
“We (BCS) are swinging and playing really aggressive,” Head Coach Shaunna Teuton said. “The team is getting confident, we have the chance to be really strong this year and we have a chance to do something good.”
The ReSporter will be breaking down the game the next few days for the Canyon Lake Hawks football team. There will be three articles with the first two having three games each with the final having four.
The Hawks need to start the season on an upbeat performance against Blanco. The opening game loss last year is still a painful memory for Canyon Lake and the best way to get the taste out of their mouth would be a convincing win.
