Canyon Lake has now been immersed with the Basketball Season as football and volleyball teams have been eliminated in tournament play and that immersion can also be seen with some swimming in this week’s schedule.
This has been a part of the season that would usually not hold out for a lot of exciting times around the area but both Girls and Boys Basketball teams have already shown that this might be a good year for giving these athletes a perusal as in previous seasons.

Canyon Lake Swimming News
Wednesday, March 25th, 2015
We have had several emails requesting information about our upcoming Summer League Swimming Team. Here is some general information. If any of your friends, family or neighbors might be interested, please direct them to the website below:
The AquaHawks will swim in the Maverick Summer Swim League. This is a league for swimmers ages 5-18 years in San Antonio. The championship meet is held at the World Class Palo Alto College Natatorium in San Antonio. Some of our CLHS swimmers participated in this league a couple of years ago and had a great experience.
Anyone from the area is welcome to join the team. In fact, we have already had inquires from as far away as both San Marcos and Blanco.

All proceeds will go towards CLHS and MVMS. Since inception we have raised $12,500 to many different CL youth activities.
Hawkscrafishboil.com profits go directly back to the Canyon Lake youth community!
Money collected, raised and donated goes directly to CL Hawk youth activities. Hawkscrafishboil.com does not keep, hold any monies as profit! We are 100% a volunteer organization.
Our Goals
Hawkscrawfishboil.com is a support arm for CL Hawk youth activities. We want to build a closer Hawk community by emphasizing academics and sports while building Hawk pride within our families and community. It is important that Hawkscrawfishboil.com continues to support our area business community with our patronization by help making families aware of the great services provided locally. This year we have 11 sponsorships from the community up from seven last year and CISD supporting the Craw Fish Boil.
We want to grow this event larger every year thus accomplishing a higher donation amounts, creating an event the CL can count on every year as a mainstay event which encompasses more community people from both sides of the lake were the CL community can come together for CL its self and get behind CLHS and MVM

Swimming: Hawk Boys Finish 2nd and Girls 4th in District Meet
Monday, February 2nd, 2015Canyon Lake’s best kept secret is having some great success swimming under the water as this year’s edition had their best showing ever at the District 28-5A Swimming and Diving Championships last weekend in San Antonio.
The Boy’s Team placed Second overall out of eight teams needing just 12 points to reach the coveted first rung on the ladder.
CLHS Girl’s Swim team placed Fourth at the Meet, which was their highest finish to date.
Senior Cam Stone placed First in the 50 Freestyle and Third in the 100 Freestyle while Sophomore Phoenix Duarte placed Third in the 500 Freestyle.
The Boy’s 200 Freestyle Relay placed Second and 400 Freestyle Relay Placed Third at the event, adding those relay points to their total.

Canyon Lake Basketball Teams are approaching the last part of their schedules as the girls have three more contests while the boys play 5 more times.
For the girl’s team, the Hawks will have another big game at home with Cuero and a win would give Canyon Lake a two game lead over the Gobblers.
The schedule will end on an easier note for Cuero as they will play the two cellar dwellers in to end their schedule putting more pressure on CL to come out on top and then get one win out of their last two games to clinch.
Wimberley would be one of those clubs and the Texans have been playing some inspired round ball as they walloped Navarro at their house to start the last round of games and really have not been threatened the last couple of weeks.
Canyon Lake will have their last game with La Vernia at home to end the season and a win on that night would be huge for the young upstart Hawk team.
Navarro looks to be in good shape to finish first with Wimberley being a solid second place at this writing.
The third and fourth place is still being played out as Canyon Lake is joined by Cuero and La Vernia for those two coveted spots.
On the Hawk Boys side, another year seems to slipping away without a chance for more games as Canyon Lake needed a win over Navarro to get some much needed momentum.
With games remaining against Wimberley, Cuero, and La Vernia, Canyon Lake will have their work cut out for them to come out on the winning side in that many games.
Counting the Freshman and Junior Varsity to last week’s games, CL finished 5-1 in those combined games giving hope for a much brighter future, especially considering so many of those younger players are entrenched in the upper teams based on age.
Canyon Lake’s Soccer teams will start their district off with a double header this Tuesday at home against Boerne.
The Greyhounds started their district play with two very convincing wins over Wimberley last week giving the other four teams something to take notice.
More will be known about the Hawks after this coming Tuesday as both teams come into this year’s district games on an upbeat.
The Girl’s team has an oftense that can certainly put goals in the net, but now when district starts that net might start to get a little tighter.
Their are five teams in District 28-4A and those schools are playing musical chairs as only one team will be eliminated after district games come to a close.
This will give the Hawk Boy’s team the best chance since play started six years ago to keep playing in the post-season.
Fredericksburg boys and girls team beat Bandera last week and now Canyon Lake starts their quest for some Hawk history.
Tuesday will be a good night to come watch Soccer and Basketball as both venues will be at home.
Hawk Swimmers will be in action again this week-end at Palo Alto College as several students had a break out UIL District 28-4A Meet last week.
The UIL Region 7-4A Championships will give Canyon Lake a chance to make their splash to be able to qualify for the State Championships later this month.
A good week for Canyon Lake and now sports start to get interesting and just around the corner Softball and Baseball being joined by Track and Field will commence as February matures.
Go Hawks!!
