Sunday, November 1st, 2015Coaches Corner with Volleyball’s Kim Paisley
Friday, October 30th, 2015The ReSporter: What are your thoughts as you have just completed this season from the regular season games and then your district games?
Coach Pailsey: “I’m excited, happy, and very proud of the girls, from Freshmen, JV, to Varsity! All of the girls worked hard and continue to work hard!!! This has been an incredible season and a season full of more goals accomplished and history in the making!”
The ReSporter: What is your focus as you look at the upcoming playoff season?
Coach Paisley: “We will keep our schedule and plan consistent and routine as possible, while still being flexible to the quick turn around that occurs throughout the playoffs. The girls are focused and we still have goals to obtain. We are hitting it hard on defense and sharpening our offense. We will be ready to compete and I know the girls will give 110% each match!” (more…)

CLJV Volleyball Win & Stay in 1st Place in District 26-4A
Wednesday, October 21st, 2015Canyon Lake JV win another game getting one more victory closer to a District 26-4A Championship, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15.
This Hawk club is a heart attack waiting to happen as they have a way of going 3 sets in almost all of their district games.
On this night in their game with Cuero, the Hawk’s JV team decided to lose the second set where in the past the first set was that contest with the first loss.
“We get comfortable and then our communication broke down in that second set,” Head JV Coach Megan Helmey said. “We talked about wanting to defend their district title and start trusting each other and show this team (Cuero) who we are.”
Hawks Gobble up the Gobblers, 3-0
Wednesday, October 21st, 2015Canyon Lake avenged their only set loss for this season as they swept the Cuero Gobblers, 25-18, 25-15, and 25-18.
CL continues their hot streak as they win their 18th game in a row and stay undefeated at 10-0 in district play.
“We are still not done,” Head Coach Kim Paisley said. “A 12-0 record in district looks better than our 10-0 right now.”
With this win the Hawks have clinched a share of a District Championship needing just one more victory to have the title outright.

CL Hawks Volleyball Beat Navarro with Sweep
Saturday, October 17th, 2015Canyon Lake Hawks are right on the cusp of winning their first ever District Championship as the Volleyball team took out their closest competitor, Navarro, in a sweep, 25-20, 25-20, and 25-23.
It was the second sweep, CL has forged on the Panthers this season and now with just three games remaining, Canyon Lake will need just one win or one loss for Navarro to have sole claim to get to the top of the heap.
Count the number of team sports that Canyon Lake has been involved with since that 2008 sports year.
Coaches Corner: Volleyball’s Kim Paisley
Thursday, October 15th, 2015The ReSporter was able to get with a busy Coach Paisley as this year’s squad is working on a perfect district slate. Go to the updated Standings article and you will see how Navarro needed to go 5 sets in disposing La Vernia and Wimberley lost in 5 sets to upstart Cuero team.
The ReSporter: Does going through the district on the 2nd round give teams a good idea of how they have progressed? What are signs besides wins and losses that help you gauge that idea.
Coach Paisley: “I look at how we execute offensively and defensively in comparison to the first round’s execution. I like to look for strategic execution based off film study, and that is rewarding as a coach to see when your team takes from what they learned and apply it successfully during the match.”
The ReSporter: On that same note, when you look at this year’s team, how good your team is can be based on placing CL at this moment back during the Tournament season and asking yourself, which games would we win with this team now, so how many of those losses would be counted as wins? (more…)
