Baseball: Hawks All Tied Up in Final Two Comal Tournament Games
Monday, March 9th, 2015Canyon Lake was all tied up as they finished their last two Comal Tourney games with the same number of runs as their opponent as they now boast a 3-3-3 record for the season.
The Hawks are being sure that the concession stand is busy until the last inning as CL scored 2 runs in the last inning in the Del Valle game and 4 runs in the last inning with Lehman.
It only took 5 hits for their 9 runs with Lehman game while the Hawks got 10 hits for their game with Del Valle.
Cody Powell doubled and tripled in the Lehman game as Canyon Lake had 4 extra base hits and only one single in that game.
Powell batted .500 for the two games with 4 hits.

Double digit scoring also came from Heath McDonough (17) winning the High Jump, Austin Camacho (13) scoring a new Hawk record in the 800 Meter Run with a 2:07.1 run beating teammate David Pfaff who ran a 2:09.55 last season.

Softball: CL Hawks Rally Past Johnson City, 7-3
Saturday, March 7th, 2015Canyon Lake rallies by Johnson City Friday night at the Hawk diamond after constructing another multi-run inning, 7-3.
The Hawks will be entering District 26-4A with an impressive 7-1 record as they used a 6 run second inning showing Johnson City that a Hawk can beat an Eagle.
As this season has shown, Canyon Lake can have some sustaining innings as they turned the trick again, when they batted around to take a lead and relying on a good defensive game to get the win.
CL had gone over a week without any games as weather stopped a tournament last weekend and cancelled games this week, leaving the Hawks hungry for competition.
Canyon Lake has now put together six innings where they have scored 4 or more runs in an inning this season.
The Hawks were also 10-5 at this same time last season, showing how weather has put a dent in this year’s schedule.
“We needed to play,” Head Coach John Gallagher said. “We needed to get back into the infield and play live competition….we started slow but we picked it up and got back in a groove on offense and defense.”
Canyon Lake certainly looked good defensively as the infield was flawless in this game and the offense batted .333 which is lower than their team .393 average going into this game.
Hawks Split Two Games in Comal Tourney on Friday
Friday, March 6th, 2015Canyon Lake finished Friday with a split 1-1 record as Colton Avey doubled in the first inning propelling the Hawks to a 7-4 victory over Del Valle.
Another good development was Gordon McCleary starting and finishing this affair giving up 3 unearned runs in his second win in two days.
Hawks Rally with 4 Runs in 5th to Beat Burbank
Friday, March 6th, 2015
Canyon Lake evened their record with a come from behind win over Burbank in the Comal Tournament on Thursday night, 10-9.
It was a wild game as each team was finding it hard to hold onto the ball with the cold weather.
Another day at the igloo as temperatures started in the 40’s and then into the 30’s with the sunset.
The Hawks would have lost this game last year and another win with a 4 run last inning will certainly help as district season will be upon this team before they know it.
Softball: Cloudy Hawks are Waiting for Sunshine
Wednesday, March 4th, 2015The ReSporter is waiting for the Games to Begin after almost 2 weeks of cold and rainy weather.
Bad news is that no matter what the weather is doing the district schedule will be here, ready or not.
“We are still working out and hitting in the cages and other than not practicing after school today and we are staying active,” Head Coach John Gallagher said. “You can’t simulate a live game and that is what we need. I have scheduled a game for us on Friday so that will give us some needed work before we start district next Tuesday.”
Golf: CL Hawks Boys Finish 2nd & Girls 3rd in Wimberley Invitational
Wednesday, March 4th, 2015Canyon Lake Boys Golf team had another good showing this week at the Wimberley Invitational when the team finished 2nd with Skyler Tschoepe garnering medalist honors shooting a 72 for first place in the tournament.
Garrett Winters was not that far behind as he finished his round in 4th place carding an 81.
