Katie Williams Signs for One College will play Two Sports

Katie Williams and Jordan Anderson have had stellar careers at Canyon Lake High

Katie Williams signing on with Dallas Christian College with Ray and Karen Williams looking on.

School these past four years and now embark on their next quest as both of these students have signed on for playing their sports in College.

Katie Williams will be going to Dallas Christian College (DCC) and will be playing two sports when she reports the end of the Summer to her new home.

Williams was seen at a Volleyball event earlier this year when DCC noticed and started to show interest.

A few weeks later, conversation morphed to Basketball and soon Williams would be asked to help the Crusaders in Basketball also.

Not very many athletes have the opportunity to play in two sports when reaching the next plateau in education, but Williams will have that opportunity.

“I’m excited but kind of nervous,” 2 Sport Williams started. “Their Coaches were so nice and I had tryouts in early March and I liked the small school atmosphere.”

“Their Volleyball team is rebuilding but I still don’t know as much about the basketball team,” Williams bounced.

Dallas Christian has about 400 students and will be more than half the size of CLHS.

“I liked their ratio of students to teachers and that will be really nice.”

“I would like to say thank you to the Coaches, Teachers, and friends I have had here (CL),” Williams closed.

Mom and Dad also commented on their daughter.

Ray Williams wanted Katie to know, “I hope she applies all the things learned here to her future…when she went for her tryout in Dallas for Basketball, she had her best showing I had ever seen.”

Karen Williams also noted, “We want the best for Katie and Dallas Christian seemed to fit her real well….at Canyon Lake, if Katie ever needed help in anything the school always came through and now we will hope for the best.”

When asked if he (Ray) was proud of her daughter, “Oh God, Yes!! Katie will have tutoring sessions two nights a week for her school work and it will be interesting to see how she will do in both sports.”

That has certainly been something to see here at Canyon Lake as you have seen Katie setting up shop on the Basketball and Volleyball Court for four years now.

Accomplishments are plentiful as Katie brought her ‘A’ game to both sports and now will have that same feeling at the next level.

Karen Williams closed, “She is a good girl,” as Mom knocked on wood after that comment.

Wood from the floor of a gymnasium is what it has been like for four years and now Katie Williams will continue this trek as she has hopes to be a Coach and wants to be an American History Teacher.

Congrats Katie and it will be weird without seeing you in your Hawk uniform next year but the Canyon Lake community is proud of you.
