Bracken says GoodKnight to Austin Hill Country, 66-40

Bracken passed their mid term test in a game with Austin Hill Country on a wet Friday in Austin, 66-40.

There is still work needed after the grading from Head Coach Lloyd Fields.

“I would give our offense an A and our defense a B, but our kicking game will receive a F after all those kick-offs yards we allowed,” Coach Fields graded. But our four Seniors stepped up and did their job.”

Bracken did receive a good outing with the Senior players.

Zack Fasenmeyer had nine tackles and caused a fumble.

Coy Zunker finished this game with18 tackles almost getting in the nose bleed arena with 20.

“I saw a lot of frustration on their players after we took the lead and that just fueled my intensity,” Zunker said.

Zunker did miss a tackle on a kick-off play so he wasn’t quite perfect for the night.

“That miss definitely made me especially mad,” Zunker said calmly. “I was tackling with my head down and that want happen again.”

Noah Boriack and Jeff Camp both had a good game defensively with eight and 10 tackles respectfully.

“I am definitely beat up,” Camp said when responding how he felt after a grueling game. “We did a good job moving the ball on offense and we can compete in district and make the final four….we just have to correct our mistakes.”

However, it was on the offense side of the ball that these two Warriors took the Knights to seeing stars.

Boriack finished this game with the most yards passing beating Eli Achilles with 176 yards through the air.

If that was not enough, this young man also pitched in with 270 bruising yards of rushing.

The ReSporter is thinking of having Boriack’s named changed to Bruiser. That is the condition for countless Austin Hill Country players the morning after this affair.

There were countless plays that Boriack (Bruiser) ran over players along with having runs that every Knight player had a shot of getting this relentless player to the turf.

Camp was just as impressive on offense as he became the fullback on this night with 55 rushing yards and a Bracken record 125 yards receiving on eight catches.

Four of the Knights last drives before halftime resulted in punts and turnovers.

After a Knight pass play for 49 yards to get within two points, 16-14, BCS closed the door which allowed enough room for a win.

First drive ended with a three and out punt, a one play fumble, fourth down turnover, and a one play when the time ran out for halftime.

The Warriors went into their locker room with a 40-14 lead and matched the Knights when both teams scored 26 points for the second half.

“We will need to work on our tackling and get more focus which is one of the basics in football,” Camp said stoically.

Bracken had over 130 plays and that will become a huge point for a team that is low on numbers.

Any injury to one of these core players can sink this team quickly.

Health issues is a big concern for the country and now Bracken has to work on some insurance options themselves to have a chance to make some noise in the playoffs.
