Canyon Lake did not have a great week with their sports as both Softball and Baseball their games and Soccer just missed an opportunity to continue their play after suffering a 2-0 loss at the feet of Liberty Hill.

Track and Field did show a lot of improvement at Wimberley with the Boy’s Team finishing 1st.

The Girl’s Varsity Track team finished with a respectable 4th, while both JV squads were second in their competition.

Track & Field will be honing in on their skills as they get ready for District 26-4A Meet next week in Cuero.

Softball will try to get righted with a game at home this Tuesday against Gonzales. This will be a pay back game as the Apache’s won the last game coming back in the last inning.

CL Softball is still poised to have a decent season, but conquering those district games will have to get better for a better seeding at the end of the season.

Errors and waiting too long to unleash an offense has been the culprits since their last win agains Wimberley.

Baseball has their backs against the wall as a game with Gonzales will pit the two teams in District 26-4A that are winless.

The winner will have an outside chance of making a charge in the second round of games, but the loser will certainly be at a time of taking inventory on how they would like to finish this season.

Scoring runs is still hurting this team as pitching and defense has had their games but all of those elements have not shown up yet in the same game.

Golf will be competing in their District 26-4A Tournament this week and Canyon Lake has had two players (Skyler Tschoepe and Garrett Winters) that have been impressive for most of this season.

Winters finished 2nd in Blanco last week, shooting a 79, this is a good time to start getting sharp on the links, Bo Brownlee also broke 100 shooting a 97 which would help that overall team score for the Hawks.

If CL can get some good rounds from Brownlee again and Sam Sheppard, Justin Bruce and Will Gray can up their game, then this Hawk team could climb to the next round with those good showings.

So, this will be a week where Hawk fans will watch carefully at the CL diamonds to see if the tide can be turned for Softball and Baseball….and wait for those scores to come in showing Canyon Lake on the rise in Golf.

Go Hawks!!
