Canyon Lake took care of Bandera to end their first round of District 28-4A this past Friday.

The Hawks still has the keys for a chance of finishing first in district play by winning out and evening the score when Wimberley pays a visit to the Hawk Nest.

          Hawks are the Best!!

“We played at the pace of Bandera’s game,” Head Volleyball Coach Kim Paisley said in response to their Friday’s win. “Slow offense from Bandera slowed down our game. They had off hits that we got caught on our heels and our defensive game needed to pick up.”

The Hawks had to go 4 sets for the match win over the Bulldogs, 25-23, 32-30, 14-25, and 25-21.

“We fought hard and battled back in that 2nd set for the win,” Coach Paisley continued. Our mental toughness was strong and we got our focus and game plan back on track.”

The Lake has seen an increasing roll from Haley Overstreet as this young lady led with 15 sets and a good defensive effort in this game.

“Overstreet has been playing consistent and well. Her defense has really picked up,” Paisley praised.

Coach Paisley has been consistent with her thoughts on playing consistently which has been one item Coach will want from her club, “I’m proud of the girls fighting through every point! Securing the first round with a 4-1 record.”

The Hawks were led with 20 kills from Riley Mickey, which was last accomplished by Bailey Drum during the 2015 season.

Canyon Lake will now go into battle with a Boerne team that finished 2nd in the first round and had a very close 3 set loss to your Hawks to start the first round two weeks ago.

                   Hawk Proud!!

The Hawks will need a repeat with 4 of those schools that was a win during that first round, with a chance of changing the outcome, in that one loss to the Texans.

CL, with a win will clinch another year of reaching the playoffs as this sport continues to churn out some impressive years. Now that is consistency!

Go Hawks and Beat Boerne!!!
