CL Hawks Earn Consolation Gold Bracket in Tex-Fest Tourney, Finish 2-1
Canyon Lake’s Volleyball finished their first day at Wimberley’s Tex-Fest Tournament with a 2-1 record and were awarded a Gold Consolation Bracket.
The Hawks started the day with a two game sweep of Somerset and Salado before meeting their Tex-Fest nemesis in a loss to Peaster.
CL has had 3 cracks at this School and is still waiting for that first elusive win.
That was a chance as The Lake rallied in that first set but the climb fizzled out which led to a 0-2 result.
“We had high intensity and energy and we stated alive,” Head Coach Kim Clemons stated. “Our girls played great today and with two good practices this week it helped our start today.”
Canyon Lake will be paired with Glen Rose at 9am in the High School’s Bridges Gym with the first serve at 9am.
The Hawks got back on track after suffering two losses on Tuesday to start this season.
Coach Clemons stated that CL needed some practices which was noticed in sweeping their first two opponents.
Megan Vorhis and Caroline Kullberg led CL with 11 kills in their 3 battles as scoring points was spread around as Kayla Wunderlich and Robinson both leading the team in this category in each win today.
Finishing strong on Saturday will help in catapulting a young Hawk team into a position for more improvement as each game will bring district competition to a head in September.
