Volleyball: CL Hawks Down to Final 3 Games in Hopes of Making Playoffs!
Canyon Lake’s Volleyball team is now down to 3 remaining games and at this writing in a dog fight with Fredericksburg and Bandera for two spots in qualifying for this year’s play-offs.
Taking into account that Wimberley and Boerne are the two top teams and they win all their games against the other 4 district opponents, then the Texans would need a win over the Greyhounds to realize a district championship. That one loss that Boerne had to Canyon Lake puts this school in a must win against Wimberley to win district.
Canyon Lake has a battle against both of teams they are presently tied with and by sweeping those two contests would have The Lake with a 3rd seed. The bad news for CL is knowing that the Billies and Bulldogs have a remaining game with Llano and a probable win.
So, going with those metrics, the Hawks would need to pull off an upset over Wimberley. That victory would go a long way in stamping this team into the post season. CL and Wimberley went to a 5 set battle in that first round. The Hawks were one serve away of getting that win but unfortunately it was not in the cards and the team went south in finishing the first round.
A Hawk loss to the Texans would put your Hawks with some must wins to qualify.
Bandera and Fredericksburg would need to upset Wimberley for the Bulldogs and Greyhounds for Freddie. If both of those two schools can pull off those upsets then Canyon Lake would need to sweep those two schools they are presently tied with.
If the games go with the winner being the school that has a better record then CL Hawks would need at least to split with either team and a one game playoff would be a remedy for a 4th seed invitation for the post-season.
Remember this is all predicated on each team with a win over Llano which puts more pressure on Canyon Lake since their game with the Yellowjackets was last week.
Canyon Lake has hope based on two of the 3 remaining games went to 5 set losses. Turn the tables in those instances, then your Hawks would be in good shape.
That Bandera game was a 4 set loss and both of CL’s losses were on the road. Three games left with two being played with some home cooking.
An added bonus is having that Billies’ game coming this Friday when these same two schools are facing off in a football game just south of the Volleyball venue.
Come and support this year’s Volleyball ladies as they fight for a chance in making the playoffs!!
Go Hawks!!
