The Lady Hawks Basketball squad finish Johnson City Tournament going 3-1 after taking only loss too
St. Mary’s.

      Bunk-Haus says Go Hawks!

CL beat some Junior Varsity schools in this tournament which would be expected as the Hawks will be on the road this coming week when they travel to Stockdale on Tuesday and then Lytle on Friday.

“We are still getting used to playing basketball again,” Head Coach Zach Burleson quipped. “It was good to get multiple games in to try to speed up the process. We have been experiencing with some tweaks on defense and need to get better at finishing around the rim. Felt like we finished up good. We did have a game where it felt like we were sleepwalking as a team. So learn from it, move on and try to get better.”

The key word for Coach Burleson is ‘try’ as that will be on the forefront with better schools on the docket coming up this week.

Chelsea Tschoepe and Sophia Barber were the main scorers going through this 4 game stint as the Hawks worst shooting came from that St. Mary’s team as a 24% shooting from 2 point land was the highest the team could muster as a 19% from beyond the arc and 20% from the charity stripe completed a game that had a hard time for the Hawks to hit the broad side of that proverbial barn.

                      Let’s Go Hawks!!

With any tougher teams and this would have been a much worse record coming from each battle.

Playing games was the main accomplishment and using those contests in improving those basic skills of communications as a team will be seen in the coming weeks as the schedule starts to get more important as district comes calling in January.

Basketball Notes:
Jessie Melendez has moved into a tie with Tiffany Tschoepe for 6th Place on Field Goals at 188.
Caroline Kullberg reached the Top Ten for Field Goals with 150.
Jessie Melendez reached the Top Ten for Assists (74) passing Char Hutson.
Chelsea Tschoepe passed the 100 mark for 3-point makes with 105 just 28 behind Reagan Heun.
Sophia Barber stands at 4th Place needing 12 more to pass Sarah Russell for 3rd Place.
Chelsea Tschoepe (210), Lainee Moses (206), and Marley Carrizales (200) all reached that 200 Steals plateau at the Johnson City Tournament. Trailing Alexa Ramos with 301 steals in her career.
