More Hawk Football Tid-Bits

Another week closer before practice and season comes calling in August.

The ReSporter has compiled some more stats for All-Time and Seasonal Bests since the school started play in 2008 opening campaign.

This year has a chance of seeing the Hawks start a run of victories if these young man can come together this season. The year will start with CL having a .500 even-steven win/loss record and if, The Lake, can finish with more wins than losses they will join the Volleyball ladies with a winning record since school started.

Canyon Lake’s football finished last year, with 3 sub-varsity teams with winning records. The Junior Varsity-Freshman-Gold squads had winning slates with CL’s Freshman winning district.

The Hawks have had 3 Freshman teams (2015-16-19) that were above the rest record wise and this last year’s group was one of the deepest yet and has lost just one game since starting in those Mountain Valley Days.

That loss was last year and it was a contest that the defense did not allow over 100 yards of offense but some downfalls in the special team’s department led to this set-back. The game had CL’s Freshman running out of time on their opponents one yard line as time expired.

How many of those players can make a jump to Varsity will be fun to see as that should have all players working for a chance to be, the one, to make the Varsity and noise when play begins against Wimberley.
