Freedom Car Care says Go Hawks!

The Hawks will welcome Austin LBJ to this week’s game for the start of District 13-4A  play.

This Jaguar’s team comes into this game sporting a 1-1 record and winning last week’s contest over Manor, 35-19.

LBJ started their season late but with two games in the books, looks to be ready to jump into their first year of competing in 4A games after residing as a 5A school last year.

In watching this Jaguar team you will notice one attribute: Speed!! LBJ enters this week’s game with a 348 yards per game average and a stingy defense that is holding their opponents to 269 yards per outing.

One other stat that could come into play is a Jaguar defense that has forced 7 turnovers coupled with an offense that has turned it over just once in their limited number of games.

The sample size is not large, but that one LBJ loss was against a private school that has just one loss and one of their wins was against Calallen, which is another school, that moved down from a 5A classification.

A Junior Quarterback, #10 Oscar Gordon III, who can beat you with his arm or legs and will present CL’s defense with a pick your poison scenario.

One of those targets is another dangerous player in #2 Andrew Mukuba who plays Free Safety and Wide Receiver. This player has several scholarship offers and will present some major decisions during the course of this battle on stopping a passing attack or being able to work a passing game on offense.

To put it simply, Canyon Lake will have their hands full on this night in trying to stop a 2 game losing streak and getting back to their winning ways.

                   Let’s Go Hawks!!

Last week’s loss to Blanco was exciting with some good results in pressure situations but on that flip side, had a team that has continued to shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers and penalties.

That will be the key on this night as this match-up will have a team that has started this year with forcing 7 turnovers against a Canyon Lake team that has lost possessions way to many times to realize a victory when that game clock reads, 0:00.

This is The Lake’s second home game this season and if the Hawks can recapture that mojo from that first home game (61-23 over La Grange), then a welcomed win could be accomplished.

The Hawks has a , 7-1 record against Austin schools and looking for that 8th win on Homecoming night.

Good Luck and Go Hawks!!
