Canyon Lake’s Junior Varsity put a hurt on the Comfort Bobcats with a blow-a-way fourth quarter in cruising to a, 62-33 win.

“I got on them at halftime,” Head JV Coach Ryan Garney said. “I told them they were playing soft and were too comfortable and we needed to play uncomfortable with this type of offense. I wanted them to embrace the chaos.”

The Hawks started the game by combining a solid defense with a doable 15 point first period but a horrid 2nd period erased all of those gains and had CL retreating back to a halftime meeting up by just one point lead, 22-21.

               Way to Go Hawks!!

The Lake continued their earlier woes in scoring 10 points using just two players scoring to open the 2nd half. Travis Parma and Drake Dershimer each drained a 3-pointer along with a two point bucket for all the scoring which still had Comfort within striking distance being 7 points down, 32-25.

That was when a Parma Quake was unleashed in scoring 13 of his 23 points during this barrage which led to a convincing 29 point victory.

On what Coach instructed the team during those half-time talks, Parma said, “Coach wanted us to continue our fast break but not to flash to the middle but flash opposite which would help give us a two on one and to keep our energy up.”

That strategy certainly was not a flash in the pan but a Super Hero Flash in taking care of these Bobcats.

Travis Parma unloads 23 points in win over Comfort.

On what Parma’s thoughts were during a 13 point final period, “When I made my first shot I felt that I was in the moment and that just helped make me hot.”

On what Parma’s thoughts on the constant substituting and if that can interrupt the rhythm of an individual while on a hot streak, “Whenever I am shooting good it does feel a little weird but by running the press constantly it allows in giving me a break and fresher when I return to the court.”

Draining 5 out of 11 from beyond the arc and 8 for 15 from the field would be a good indication that Parma was well rested each time he returned to the hard-wood.

Whether looking at Parma in Ohio (short range shots) or Parma in Northern Italy (shots beyond the arc), Parma was on fire on this day that help lead Canyon Lake to another win.

Canyon Lake JV will be back in action January 5th when San Antonio Christian comes to the Hawk Nest for a 5pm tip-off.

Come out and see this good group of boys go into action and get a taste of Italy.

Go Hawks!!
