Hawks wrap it up after come from behind win over SA Cole, 3-2.

The Boy’s Soccer started their CL Classic Tournament with a WINd over SA Cole, 3-2 with a 3 goals scored in the second half with the wind.

Let’s Go Hawks and Hit’em Hard!

This win will put CL pitted against a Burnet & Bandera winner being played later on Thursday. The Lake next game will be played Friday at 4pm.

“Their #10 was a very good player and the only time we did not account for him he scored,” Head Soccer Coach Cody Schroeder stated when asked bout that first half score. “We made some bad decisions and will need to clean int up and make progress.”

It took less than two minutes for CL to score in the 2nd half when Josh Schezch found an opening in the midfield to tie the score, 1-1.

Canyon Lake was able to keep the attack constant aided by a strong wind but one SA Cole was able to sneak a goal right on the left corner to retake the lead with 23 minutes remaining.

Five minutes later had a perfect pass for an assist by Josh Nelson that tied the score once again giving CL an advantage having the wind at their backs.

Josh Nelson was all in on Hawks win over SA Cole, 3-2.

“Thrilled,” Nelson said when asked about this win. “We had been in this situation before and we are use to it. We had them (Cole’s offense) pretty tight helping us to hold them to one goal in that first half.”

On what this victory will mean when the Hawks take the field on Friday, “We will learn from our mistakes and not lose our mentality. We can’t let the wind be used as an excuse and come out stronger.”

That paid off with 7:23 remaining when Schecht found the back of the net in what would be the winning goal that will now have CL waiting to play the winner of the Bandera/Burnet contest.
