Hawk Ladies Swim Team Overcome Obstacles in Regional Meet

A hectic day does not keep this group of ladies under water after new records set at Regions.

“‘The obstacle is the way – Performance through adversity.  This is how Champions are chiseled out of mere athletes,’ We’ve been preaching this to our athletes all year, and it definitely was evident yesterday,” Coach Kimberley Moses said of her team. “Our ladies walked into the natatorium early yesterday morning as athletes and walked out late last night as champions.”

               Way to Go Hawks!!

Caleigh Krystyniak swam a 1:18.12, breaking the 2012 school record of 1:18.68 in the 100 breaststroke. While Danielle Carty, Shelby Palmer, Danielle Zulueta and Krystyniak swam a 1:56.23, for another school record breaker from the 2012 record of 1:57.06

“For those who don’t know, our school bus was broken into at lunch yesterday while we were eating at Jason’s Deli across from North Star Mall, very busy parking lot, in broad daylight,” Moses said. “They literally took everything (all backpacks), but they didn’t take these girl’s determination to finish this season strong.”

After replacing 6 swimsuits, 6 pairs of googles, and 6 swim caps, these ladies competed like never before, Moses added.

“We couldn’t be anymore proud of their accomplishments in and out of the pool this season,” she said. “Though the bus was empty, our hearts are so very full.”

Moses and Coach Hayley Galloway thanks everyone that helped make yesterday and this swim season such a success, “Your continued help, support, and love are greatly appreciated.  Huge Shout Out to Coach Tyler, Coach Martinez, Coach Clemons, Coach Drum, Mrs. Castilleja, and Swim Freak (Carolann) for helping us get swim gear so quickly, and to all of the parents who helped gather swimmers, deliver swim equipment, and cheer us on.  We couldn’t have done it without you!”

“SWIM PARENTS ARE THE BEST PARENTS!” Moses ended.

The boys team will be swimming today in the 200 Free Relay. The team includes Noe Coronado, Austen Alvarez, Calie Coley, Conner McCullagh. The meet can be seen on the NEISD Athletics YouTube Channel.
