SOFTBALL DISTRICT 28-4A STANDINGS

Canyon Lake Hawks Softball has two more games left before District 28-4A play begins and looking at the records will tell you this season will be a dogfight for those 4 playoff spots.

Fredericksburg has yet to be beaten and three other schools (Canyon Lake-Boerne-Davenport) have reached the 10 win or more plateau.
Things we can deduce based on teams that have been played so far shows Boerne with a lot of shut-outs and a good group of teams that are not road kill. Fredericksburg is in that same camp but have missed several games due to inclement weather.
Wimberley and Davenport have some quality wins as does The Lake but it seems these 3 programs might have a harder time to separate for making a post-season dance invitation.
CL’s team had a 3-7 record going into their last week of battles last year before district. A night and day scenario for sure with several young players already making their mark especially in that batter’s box.

Defense still needs some work and pitching is a game time wait and see how they do as there is still that consistency seen. On a bad day, Canyon Lake’s batting has made up the difference which will certainly be harder under the district game lights.
Bandera looks to be the odd team out looking at this year with some wins that are not headliners as of yet but still good be a spoiler for some schools that might enter these games without being on their A-Game.
So to recap: Boerne & Freddie look to be at the head of the class while Wimbo-Wolves-Hawks still looking to take some upcoming tests for entrance to one of those 4 post-season spots.
