CL Hawk’s Gold Make Waldo Hard to Find in, 46-0 Blow Out to Chargers
If Waldo was in the form of a first down then CL’s Gold team could have fun trying to find the only first down made by Boerne Champion as this Gold team was all 24 Karat Gold on this Thursday dominating these Chargers, 46-0.
How bout gaining 291 yards compared to 17 total yards by these Chargers. It was so bad that Charging anything would have been canceled due to lack of funds and all value being with Canyon Lake’s Gold squad.
Half of the Gold’s roster had an opportunity to carry the rock with QB James Holladay being the only recipient to finish with negative rushing but that was erased after Holladay passed for 43 yards on 2 attempts and catches.
Defense started this bludgeoning with no gain on BC’s two rushing plays and then an interception by Lucas Schexnayder that set CL up on their 38 yard line. Eight plays later the Hawks would take a lead that was never threatened on a 2 yard run by Reese Pipkin for points that would only increase without any resistance, 8-0.
One yard was gained on Chargers’ next possession and that had CL on their 36 yard line after the punt and in 7 plays it became a, 16-0 lead. This drive was highlighted when Pipkin gained 15 yards on a jet sweep that was followed with a 23 yard gain for Tristan Hallman to the Charger’s 5 yard line. A 5 yard run by Ayden Manzo was next on this touchdown brigade to start the 2nd quarter.
A successful on-side kick led to another score when Josh Rowe traveled 5 yards for the score, 24-0. There were 2 pass plays were on this drive.
QB Holladay found Schexnayder for an 18 yard gain and then 3 plays later was good for 25 yards to Gavyn Baldera.
Waldo would finally be found on the Chargers next drive on a 14 yard run late in the 2nd quarter….what happened next? A pick-six when Gram Simpson took his interception down the far sideline 59 yards and a Hawk, 32-0 lead with 2:11 still left on the first half clock.
CL Gold took the 2nd half kick-off and moved the ball 52 yards on 14 plays taking the whole 3rd quarter. This drive stalled on the Charger’s 17 yard line on a run that was short by one yard.
After another Boerne Champion punt and CL wasted no time using 4 plays covering 58 yards that had Hallman rushing for 30 yards and another score, 38-0.
A fumbled kick-off gave the Gold another chance to put the finishing touches to this blow-out with 4 plays using 4 different players.
Caleb Armstrong 10 yards, Rowe no gain, Kahle Bowers a 4 yard jaunt and finally a Baldera 6 yarder giving this Gold team a satisfying, 46-0 final score.
Staying in game mold left Boerne Champion finishing this game with a punt.
That Waldo 14 yard run for a first turned out to be 82% of all yardage for the Chargers who’s credit card was revoked.
CL Gold will have their first home game this Thursday, September 15th starting at 6:30pm against Lake Travis.
A good chance to see on what will Waldo might become in this contest….Way to GO HAWKS!!
