District 13-4A Standings and Recap

Every team in District 13 has won a game except for Canyon Lake who was leading Fredericksburg before lightning caused a suspension with no decision.

          Have a Great Season Hawks!!

What was learned by those other schools goes first to Davenport who is looking like they might be ready to make a run for a district title as they are now 2-0 with a win over Kerrville Tivy by 3 points and two weeks ago a road win against another 5A team Victoria West.

This Week the Wolves will take on the newest Comal ISD school, Pieper. These Warriors are having a tough start to compete in football and has probably fallen victim to what Canyon Lake suffered during their first year of playing for real.

What is similar?  The number of good players that had an opportunity to stay at Smithson Valley for a better finish and a team that is much further ahead. To players that might have been relegated to bench status at SVHS went to Pieper for a chance to play. Making this season with a lot of hard knocks. Davenport should be 3-0 after this week.

Marble Falls proved how bad Pflugerville Connelly was with a blow out win and then losing to Brownwood the same way they won the week before being blown out.  The Falls should have an easy game this week playing a new school from Killeen.

Lampasas had a win over a weak Austin North East Early College school and will have a tough hurdle facing Georgetown East View this week. With a win then watch out but this will probably go down as a loss for these Badgers.

                     Let’s Go Hawks!!

Burnet lost a rivalry game with Llano and will see just how good Brownwood in their next game giving them a good barometer on how they might match-up with Marble Falls in district play.

Taylor Ducks took care of Rockdale and this week play Robinson which should be a good game as both teams try to build up their programs that have fallen off these past few seasons.

Canyon Lake will be on the road again this week as they battle Boerne Champion who will have their first home contest against these Hawks.

Champion is 1-1 with a tough loss to Eagle Pass last week when they lost a safe lead. The Lake will be competing against larger schools for their next 3 weeks as CL continues to play a tougher schedule in district.

Looking at how many points being scored against Canyon Lake’s brethren might give an edge for the Hawks based on a limited sample size for CL’s defense.

Lampasas has given up 14.5 points per game thus far but that shut-out last week was similar to when Canyon Lake played Austin Eastside, back in the day,  that had all the CL players getting playing time in those romps.

So watch that development for the Badgers on how well they defense East View who will be a night & day difference from their last week’s win.

Go Hawks!!
