Track & Field Results from Canyon Meet, Hawk Ladies Finish 3rd
The Canyon Lake Lady Hawk Tracksters started their season with an impressive 3rd place finish at the Canyon Meet that was loaded with 5A-6A schools.
CL finished with 71 points and had Alencia Lentz and Savanna Olberholtzer each scoring 15.5 points. Two other Hawks joined Lentz and Olberholtzer with Ayren Lightfoot with 11 points and Cadence Patterson’s 10 points.
“We had a good start to our season with a third place finish for our Varsity Girls, Head Coach Sami Theurer said. “Savanna Oberholtzer with a new school record on long jump with a jump of 17’8”.”
Coach Theurer continued, “We are looking forward to the Blanco Meet (Thursday, February 23rd at 3pm), hopefully work out some of the kinks we had in our 4×100 and 4×200 relays. Our 4×400 relay looked strong, but there is always room for improvement.”
Savanna Olberholtzer scored in all 5 events she participated in and Lentz got her points in 3 events.
Lentz finished first in the pole-vault that had a vicious wind curtailing any upward movement while Olberholtzer’s best finish was the Long Jump of 17-08 feet which is now an all-time best by over a foot in Hawk history.
Lentz had another first with the help from Lightfoot, Hannah Hammer and Aubrey Avey in the 4×400 meter relay.
Just so you know…that foursome consists of a freshman and two sophomores. Lentz a Baylor bound Senior added a touch of senior experience.”
CL’s Girls JV was not as successful as the Varsity but the 400 meter run showed that their is some more athletes ready to climb that ladder to keep this event at a top notch relay.
Mia Zabarecencu and Lottie Chappell 68.73 4th and Lottie Chappell 70.40 6th place finish will improve and running against an unrelenting wind while competing with 6A & 5A schools will give these ladies a chance to see higher rankings as the season continues. That 68 second run by Zabarecencu was just off by 4 seconds of making the top 10 all-time list.
Way to GO FAST Hawks!!

Canyon Lake’s Boys Tracksters had just one student to score points when last year’s State Qualifier, Coby Mickey was able to score 5 points for the Hawks.
“I’m hoping to see improvement this week at Blanco,” Head Coach Bill Greene surmised. “We will have some more kiddos back and we will shuffle around some pieces.”
Besides Mickey, Alek Villaviencio’s 800 meter run was fast enough to make the top 10 as he now stands in 8th place and in an event that a wind will certainly keep a runner from having a personal best (pr).
Then Villavicencio’s 3200 finish was the best all-time by 4 seconds beating Luke Mendez’s time he ran back during the 2019 season. Watch for an improvement in that realm as this State Qualifier in the Cross Country 2021 season might be ready to make that record hard for future Hawks.
Tristan Schenk had a strong 3200 time as he has the 4th all-time finish which will hopefully have this event garnering points as the season matures.
Not finished for this event after Layton Hermann beat the Hawk record by 8 seconds and not Alek was knocked down to 2nd which says a lot for an event that Hermann might certainly being moved up to Varsity for more possible points. Way to Go Hawks!!
Jace Morales finished with double digit points as Morales scored 19.5 and placed in 5 events. Hermann scored, 9.5 points in that 3200 run and he a relay for his total.
Stat tuned as improvement will be evident with a meet that will have smaller schools that can give CL’s Boys a chance to get some more hardwire.
