Baseball District 27-4A Standings & Results
Canyon Lake was upset by Fredericksburg to start their district schedule which saw many negatives attached to that loss.
It was a home game and the Hawks were shut-out to open district. An oddity that had all three games by the victors tossing shut-outs to their victims.
Boerne is perched at the top of District 27-4A and have just 2 losses while ranked in the Top 5 for the State of Texas.
Canyon Lake has lost their ranking they had enjoyed these past two seasons but now are looking for recognition. A so-so start to this season will now require some highlight wins to garner any hope of moving back into the Top 25.
Rankings are secondary in the big picture after losing that first game to Freddie. The Hawks will host Davenport on Tuesday at 1:00pm and then a tough contest on Thursday at Boerne.
The Lake was able to finish first during their Comal Clash and had their best game coming against London that ended in a tie. That Pirate team is presently ranked 1st in Class 3A.
Looking at the games played and how each school’s record of opponents below will give a glimpse or metric on judging those wins and losses.
This season the district slate is set up where Canyon Lake will play each team once and then that same sequence of games will transpire to weekly two game sets that will end with each school being played 3 times.
With CL’s loss to Freddie last Tuesday….it has put the Hawks in a similar situation that has happened these past two campaigns. With a loss to start district play and having The Lake needing to climb out of a hole.
With 5 games being played last week, Canyon Lake, had a chance to give several players some audition roles for the remainder of the season.
Bats did come alive for several players but by looking at the combined records of the teams played…you will see those schools had losing records. That is why that London tie was the best showing as well as those battles that needed a CL team being able to stop rallies, have comeback wins and seeing if there might be some pitchers and that might be useful during those middle innings to keep an opponent close enough for more last minute comebacks.
Every district squad is .500 or above which will let players know that a any game is a big game.
Canyon Lake has already been a witness to not being at their best, hence going to battle with an, 0-1 record.
Come out and enjoy and Let’s GO HAWKS!!
