The Hawk’s Baseball team got off to a good start after winning their opening two games in the Comal Clash Tournament.

                  Way to Go Hawks!!

A hold on for your life win over Wagner that had CL with a comfortable early 6 run lead before needing to stop the bleeding win, 7-5. That 2nd game was controlled from start to finish with Pitcher Luke Roskin pitching his 3rd shut-out of the season after giving up 5 hits and striking out 7 in the win over Flour Bluff.

Roskin has now reached 17.2 innings not giving up a run and his era has lowered to a 0.62 since the season started.

In that first game, it was the fielding-hitting-pitching coming from John Gulley who had two hits and got the save, on the mound, after relieving for Hunter Anderson.

But it turned out to be his defense that spelled relief in this victory that came about in the opening inning.

NEW ADVERTISER THAT IS READY TO MIILK SHAKE YOU UP! Go Hawks!!

With Hunter Anderson on the mound, the Thunderbirds got going with a one out walk and then reached base when Guzman was hit by an Anderson pitch.

Another walk had the bases loaded and one out and the potential of getting the lead quickly in these timed tournament contests.

On the 3rd pitch of this sequence De La Fuente lined a sinking screamer down the first base line that had Gulley quick reaction snagging the ball and stepping on the bag for an inning ending unassisted double play. If that ball had not been snatched by Gulley then a sure double or triple and The Lake looking at a 3 run deficit.

Defense-pitching-and hitting was on display for Gulley which helped get CL on the right foot as Canyon Lake will continue today with another two games with the 1st pitch at 5:00pm against London then the nightcap will have the Hawks facing East Central.

Hayden Baker continued his hot bat with a 2 run bomb to start CL’s scoring while Griffen Williams got his home-run parade started on a two run bomb #2 in the night cap in that win against Flour Bluff.

Come out and enjoy an evening with good food (a given)-good friends (hopefully)-good baseball (GO HAWKS!!)

Stats are SAFE and rated G for the audience.
