The long ball was needed for the Hawks to win their district series against Davenport in extra innings after Carter Williams jacked a ball over the left field fence scoring 3 runs and a walk off CL victory, 7-4.

                        Let’s Go Hawks!!

Oh yeah, those first 4 runs were courtesy of Griffen Williams’ Grand Slam in the bottom of the 5th frame that gave The Lake their first lead in this battle, 4-2.

Those first 4 innings had left CL with nothing to write home about with 2 singles (Chase Anderson & Ty Sellers) and the Hawks leaving 5 players on base.

Davenport increased their one run lead to two in the top of the 5th when a single was stretched to 2nd base on a throwing error that would score two batters later on a single for what felt like at the time a commanding Wolves lead, 2-0.

That was when Griffen (9 home runs) would make another deposit to just right of the center field fence with the bases full of Hawks.

               Get One More HAWKS!!

Travis Parma started this inning rapping (you ought to hear his walk up music) a line drive single. Chase Anderson would work a walk (finished with 3 in the game) before Hunter got underneath a ball for a pop-up first out.

Then Carter Williams reached on a base hit that was smashed to the 3rd baseman…the ball hit the glove so hard it bounced out keeping the inning alive and the bases full of Hawks for Griffen.

That hard hit by Carter could have resulted in an inning ending double play, but the baseball gods were smiling and wanted to see those fireworks on Griffen’s 24th all-time homer in a Hawk uniform.

                     Way to GO HAWKS!!

A dramatic CL team allowed another extra inning affair and that was granted when Davenport scored two runs in the top of the 7th leading to an 8th frame.

That was when Carter Williams would put a Frame around his homer scoring Chase (walk) & Hunter (double) and another dramatic victory, 7-4.

CL’s defense had some spectacular plays at the Hot Box (3rd Base) that had Carter knocking a ball down and a rifle throw to Hunter Anderson and then with the sun making it’s arrival during the later innings led to 2 strokes by the Wolves to right fielder Ty Sellers for outs.

“I lost the ball and (Center Fielder) Brayden Welch kept telling me to go back and I was able to finally find the ball for the catch,” Sellers said selling his catch.

Come see our Hawk Nation Room and Go Hawks!!

Hunter Anderson would get the win entering the game in the 7th inning with two on base who scored on a sacrifice fly-ball and single.

The Lake would leave the bases loaded in the bottom of that same inning but those fireworks were finally ready for a 3 run tator and Hawk win.

Canyon Lake will welcome Boerne for tonight with first pitch at 6:00pm.

Way to GO HAWKS!!
