CL Hawk’s Volleyball Beat Poth Pirates , 3-0
Canyon Lake Volleyball’s team continued their long road trip and came out on top sweeping Poth, 25-23, 25-16, and 26-24.
Several players had career games and another good outing from Haley Eckert who finished with 15 kills and had CL’s only block in this win.
Senior Lisa Montoya was instrumental with her setting and led the Hawks with 13 and finished with a double-double collecting 11 digs.
The Hawks had a better game in keeping the ball alive for a chance to accomplish some rally points when Krissie Feller led The Lake with 19 digs that was followed with Kylie Rodriguez finishing with 18.
Six of the 8 Hawks were able to contribute with a kill that totaled 36 for the team in this contest.
“We played well and consistent together,” Head Coach Dani Villarreal stated. “That all happened because we have been working on our game mentally and believing in ourselves to do great things.”
Coach Villarreal continued, “Poth had some strong offensive weapons but we were able to step up to the challenge and not let their good moments put us down. We passed and played defense so well that we were able to run a quick offense with Haley (Eckert) in the middle and she was unstoppable all game.”
Chloe Gray and Rodriguez tied with 2 aces a piece and an overall good team win with all the athletes with positive plays.
Canyon Lake will continue their road extravaganza going to the Pieper Warrior Tournament starting this Friday.
