Lady Hawk’s Track & Field Team Finish 3rd in Comal ISD Meet

This year’s Lady Track & Field has a chance to make an attack on those All-Time Records this season after a strong showing against 5A-6A schools at the Comal ISD Relays earlier this week.

One lady to keep your eye on will be a Savanna Oberholtzer who scored 35 points at the meet with 3 first place events and scoring 5 points in her two relay runs.

Oberholtzer is so fast she could possibly finish her 100 meter dash before common folk would be able to send a text. (Well that might just be just The ReSporter…but still fast)

She finished first in the 100 meter dash with a 12.71 mark, first in the long jump (17-08.25), first in the triple jump (35-06.00), and helped both 4×100 and 4×200 meter relay relay with CL finishing 2nd behind SVHS by less than 4 tenths of a second and a 5th place finish win the 4 by 100 relay.

Cadence Patterson scored 18 points and beat her previous best in the mile by 10 seconds (5:05.42 ) and her 3200 meter run was even more impressive after a (10:52.11) ) finish which lowered her previous Hawk best by 30 seconds. Patterson’s finish in the mile run would have had her finishing with a medal based on last year’s state meet that she finished 5th place.

That was not all of the fireworks tho as Aubrey Avey (47.70) finished at the head of the pack running in the meter hurdles. Hannah Hammer had a 2nd place finish and a personal best in the 800 meter run and scored in both relays (200-400 relays) she entered.

Ayren Lightfoot had a 3rd place finish in her 400 meter dash specialty with a Hawk best with a time under 60 seconds in her first meet of this season. Lightfoot also had a personal record (pr) in this event finishing with 58.69 time.

Coach Sami Theurer was pleased with CL’s first meet, “We had a really good meet on the girls side and finished third behind Smithson Valley and College Station. It was a long night, but a really good start to the season.”

The Lady Hawks will be back in action this coming Thursday when CLHS hosts the Hawk Relays and a good time and see these great athletes put their best efforts forward.
