Cadence Patterson finished first in the 1600 & 3200 run and with her 10:45.53 time for the 3200 event now enjoys the best mark for this 4A Region IV Meet. She was off just 2 seconds in the 1600 meter run.

Ayren Lightfoot will accompany Paterson to Austin after her 2nd place 400 meter lap around the track.

Hannah Hammer (800 meter run) and Aubrey Avey (300 meter hurdles) both finished 4th in those two events that finished the scoring for the Lake.

Patterson is the only senior in this group as all the above and more ladies have more work to do as they continue to work on their events.

Hannah Hammer finished 4th in her 800m run and had a personal record.

This Kingsville meet has been a Bermuda triangle with set-backs being the norm throughout the years that The Lake has sent athletes for a chance to qualify for a chance to participate in Austin.

Savanna Oberholtzer was that athlete this season but this Sophomore will have more opportunities to make that ultimate trip.

Canyon Lake’s biggest culprit in not securing more points during the Track season has been depth where other schools will often times have more athletes in all of the 17 events that are available for having a chance to score more points.

CLHS has had several athletes performing at a high level hence scoring 36 points and among the teams mentioned above being bested by just two district schools mainly due that depth issue.

“We competed very well,” Head Coach Sami Theurer said when asked for her comments on the meet. “Our 4×100 meter relay would have made the finals had we not had an unfortunate third leg trip. Savanna was in the finals of the 100 meter dash, but we had to scratch her due to illness.” (Bermuda Triangle)

Coach Theurer continued, “Hannah Hammer PRd (personal best) and finished 4th in the 800 meter run and Ayren Lightfoot finished 2nd in the 400 meter dash and will move on to Stats. We are excited for the state meet. Cadence runs at 9:30am and 7:50pm and Ayren runs at 6:45, both on this Thursday, May 2nd at Mike A. Myers Stadium.”

Way to Go Fast Hawks and Congratulations making it to State!!
