The Lake’s Girls Soccer Readies for Start of District Play
Canyon Lake Lady Hawk’s Soccer team has the longest playoff streak starting back in the 2013 season with aspirations of adding another year to that lofty goal.
This year’s team has one non-district left when they face Canyon on Tuesday and then will face off against another tough district even without Boerne who will be playing 5A this year.
An impressive 6-3-1 record scoring 27 goals while allowing 8 going into tomorrow’s battle.
Canyon’s loss to Davenport will allow CLHS see how they might stack up when they play the Wolves. The Lake’s district will once again have a tough group of teams.
The ReSporter was able to catch up with Head Coach Kara Stracener.
The ReSporter: Once again you have a pretty strong district, how do you feel the non-district games have helped in preparing the team for district?
Coach Stracener: “We have faced a variety of opponents leading up to district play. 4A-6A teams. Hopefully we have been put in enough difficult or different situations to help prepare us for what district will look and feel like.”
The ReSporter: What have you seen from this year’s team that gives you confidence that your streak of playoff games will come to fruition?
Coach Stracener: “The girls look strong and are continuing to grow each day. If we continue to grow in our areas of weakness and play with confidence we will be on track to keep the playoff streak alive…”
The ReSporter: With the cold weather does that delay the progress you would like to have for this part of the season?
Coach Stracener: “The cold weather does not delay our progress, it just makes us tougher.”
The ReSporter: What type of goals do you want to accomplish besides the obvious make the playoffs?
Coach Stracener: “In the past 4 years we have made it to the 3rd round of playoffs 3 times. The girls are determined to go past round 3, possibly see a regional final game or even state tournament appearance.”
Now Coach Stracener will get to work for improvement with this year’s edition of CL’s Lady Soccer Team! Let’s Go Lake!
