Canyon Lake’s Volleyball Team qualified for a post-season berth in their win over Bandera last Friday and will know this week who their opponent will be based on who wins the Legacy Ranch and Manor New Tech battle.

The last time CL had a post-season game was 2019 when The Lake Bi-District win was against Salado.

CLHS also reached the 20 win plateau which happened during that same 2019 season.

Head Coach Daniella Villarreal started, “I am so proud of the girls and so happy to see all of their hard work pay off! We have been talking about the goal of making playoffs since my first year, specifically for seniors Chloe Gray, Kylie Rodriguez, and Mackenzie Dorn, who have been striving toward this milestone since their sophomore year on varsity.”

“In the spring, the 5 seniors chose the quote “Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy” to emphasize that what it will take to reach our goal will not be easy but worth it,” Coach Villarreal continued realizing that CL’s district is one of the toughest in the state. “It has been a reminder that making playoffs in our tough district requires effort, perseverance, and strong mental toughness. It’s about learning how to overcome challenges, getting in extra reps and workouts, and pushing through moments when we are physically and mentally tired. All of this hard work is worth it when we reach our goals and celebrate the success!”

Wimberley (ranked 3rd) and Davenport (ranked 22nd) make up the top 2 district opponents that pose two major road blocks each season.

                   Way to Go Hawks!

“I am beyond grateful to coach these athletes as they are some of the most hardworking and coachable kids I’ve ever been around,” Coach Villarreal said in response on what she witnessed this season in reaching this first goal. “Their dedication to our team culture and shared goals has fueled tremendous growth for our program, both physically and mentally for all of our athletes.”

“As a coach, it’s a dream to provide tools for improvement and watch athletes absorb them, apply them immediately, and rise above challenges with resilience, and that is exactly what they have done,” Coach heaped praise, “I feel so blessed to coach these athletes, have a hard working coaching staff with Coach (Kara) Barnes and Coach (Trevor) Hamblet, and such a supportive community from the parents, admin, and teachers. It definitely takes a village to make it happen so thank you to everyone that made our goals possible!”

Senior Kylie Rodriguez reached the top of the All-Time Digs List in CL’s win over Bandera last week.

The Lake has two more contests this week and then will commence their playoff games at the end of next week possible Thursday.

Way to make us Proud and GO LAKE!
