Tid-Bits: Area Round Football & Boys Basketball Win~Luling, 76-32
Canyon Lake’s Area Bout and Basketball starting out of the gate strong as Thanksgiving is right around the corner.
First will be CL’s battle with Calallen this week at SW Legacy Stadium in San Antonio with kick-off at 7:00pm. The location is: 4495 Verano Pkwy #100 in Von Ormy, Texas 78073.
This is the second playoff game with these wildcats after suffering a heart break, 37-31 loss in 2020. That Covid year was a crazy time that had The Lake literally all over the field with wins and losses.
An overtime loss, 41-40 to Blanco and then seeing state finalist LBJ escape with a, 20-14 thriller and as a 4th seed beating La Vernia, 48-27 in a buzz saw game that led to a Calallen team that had won their district.
This year, the Hawks have had some up and downs but not to that 2020 team’s extent sporing a 8-3 record and with a more wide open offense.
These Wildcats have doubled their rushing this season compared to passing yardage. They have 39 touchdowns rushing and 14 through the air.
Passing might not be used as much but this team does use that part of their game to the fullest with two players as their main go-to players.
Gamez (34) and Rusher (33) receptions with the rest of this squad with a total of 11 receptions.
While there is a three headed monster on the run game. The QB Connor Klostermann has 572 yards and running backs Rodriguez (729) and Tipton (728) will give The Lake plenty of work on their defensive side of the ball.
Canyon Lake will need to keep their penalties down as they did last week in that Bi-District win and can get a run game which can open up the passing game to keep the Wildcats guessing.
