                         Way to Go Hawks!

The Lake Basketball team dominated in getting a must win over Fredericksburg, 62-45 on a delayed one day battle due to frigid weather.

Frigid was certainly not a word to describe this victory that saw these Hawks shooting 52% from the field, 43% beyond the arc and 78% from the charity stripe.

Canyon Lake only shot below 50% once with 40% shooting in that 3rd quarter.

Josh Rowe (14 pts) drained 4 three pointers which led to a total of 9 threes for the game topping with the most this season.

CLake would also share the rock matching a season best 21 assists which happened twice in wins over Yorktown and Luling. Cole Dees had 9 of those dishes just missing double digits which has happened twice during CL’s history when Doug Hubnik (2015) reached 14 in 2013 and Tyler Pauly’s (2021) 12 in 2021.

                         GO LAKE!

Gavin Cano field in his stat sheet scoring 12 points, with 4 assists and led CL with 5 steals.

It has been the Cano~Rowe show these past three games which has both reaching double digit scoring helping in with consistency  as this game witnessed while adding defensive effort by recording 14 steals.

The Lake in this first district win scored the first 11 points which had Wyatt Sims, Cano and Rowe on point with 3 pointers which had Cole Dees’ assists attached to this fast start.

                            Let’s GO LAKE!

This scoring surge was capped off with a Harlon Wisdom short jumper off a Rowe pass which spread the scoring to 4 different players, 11-0 to start this game.

A first quarter, 13-4 lead would increase to a 14 point advantage going into halftime, 29-15.

These Hawks would increase their lead to 20 points, 59-39 with 1:37 remaining in this battle.

A must win for a team that will hopefully be adding more out-patients from their M.A.S.H Unit by their next contest with Bandera on the road this Friday.

That steal department this season now has two (Cano 55~ 8th place) and Rowe (51~ 9th place) in the Top 10 for steals in a season. While two other players knocking on the door with Dees and Fuentes~ 49 steals~ 12th place.

Fuentes reached triple digits steals with 100 where he joined 6 other Hawks for that category.

Fuentes stands with 130 assists now for 8th place on that All-Time list trailing Matt Magness (2011) who is next on that ladder with 136.

A good win to build on as the first round of games finishes this week in Bandera.

Way to Go Lake!
