============================================

First thing, The ReSporter would like to congratulate Skyler Tschoepe for being the first Golfer for the boys to qualify for a chance to advance to State after his finish in the District Tourney.

Overall, Canyon Lake had their most successful Golf season ever as other young man also helped this team with some medalist honors throughout the year.

Garrett Winters finished in the top five several times as this one-two punch helped fuel this banner year.

Congrats to this team and Seniors, Tschoepe and Winters.

Now, Canyon Lake’s Softball season has a chance to continue with a win this Tuesday against La Vernia.

That game might not be as important if Cuero can win a make-up game on Monday, but if Cuero loses this week and CL can pull off a win over District 26-4A front runner, La Vernia then a play in game with Cuero would be in order to see who might qualify for that last playoff spot.

Canyon Lake has played with fire most of this season as they have had a hard time in finishing strong when games go into those later innings.

The Hawks needed everything they could muster to stave off Wimberley last Friday as an 8-1 lead quickly became a close game, winning 8-7.

This year might hinge on the last game with La Vernia as each team enjoyed a second place spot in district behind Yoakum when Canyon Lake folded like a cheap chair in the 5th inning and being run ruled by this same Bear team.

That game had Alexis Robinson throwing a no-hitter and 8 strikeouts through those first four innings.

Errors started a total collapse in that game and Canyon Lake has been feeling the effect of that game ever since.

This would be a good time to right the ship against the same team that started the slide and keep this young team’s hopes strong.

It will also be Senior Night as Canyon Lake will say good-bye to Kelsey Ahrens and Lizzy Henderson.

The ReSporter has been covering the Hawks since the 2009 season and every year there has been a Henderson in the dugout for Canyon Lake and so this will certainly be an emotional game for this family as they have seen countless games throughout the years.

Ahrens has been a Rock of Gibraltor through her four years as a Hawk and her smile and intimidating presence in the batter’s box will certainly be missed in the coming years.

Thanks for giving your all for your school and if you carry that same intensity into the world then success will be a word that will describe you as you work your way across the base paths.

Baseball Stats for Alex, Vicky, and Lizzy Henderson:
ab r h bi 2b 3b bb so sb ave
 Hendersons 611 111 159 65 10 1 49 178 54 .260

Baseball is now officially out in competing for a playoff spot, but that will certainly not be a time to sleep on this sleeping giant as they can certainly have some surprises for teams as they finish their schedule.

Still worth a good time at the Hawk Diamond and show your support for this group of young men.

Canyon Lake will be hosting the Area Track Meet that will qualify athletes for Regional Meet the first of May. Things will get started this Thursday at 10am.

The Hawks will have several students participating but you can also see some great athletes from across this area and it will be a good time to enjoy some sun and watch the competition.

Come out and yell for our Hawks and enjoy the day!!

Go Hawks!!!
