Junior Linebacker Isaac Pruna
Canyon Lake Hawks brought three players up as Sophomores last season and will now be joining up with the JV crew that finished undefeated last year.
Isaac Pruna was used as a linebacker and put up some impressive numbers. Now it is time to see the experience blossom into a break out Junior year.
Pruna played in all 12 games and finished with 89 tackles, recording two sacks and six total tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
Take into account the tackle machine, Bobby Flint, getting double figure tackles per game and you can see how Pruna will be poised to break that triple digit tackle number this year.
Alex Kemp was the only player that caused more fumbles than Pruna. The Senior Kemp had four while Pruna finished with three.
“I feel quicker, but I’m still a little rusty,” Pruna started. “I’m not settled in yet.”
The strongside linebacker seems to be pacing himself and the Hawks can hope the Junior can start the season strong.
“We have a lot more people and we need to start them on fire and then keep it going,” Pruna said. “There is more intensity.”
This was the second defensive player that mentioned the shut out word.
“We will shut out a couple of teams this year,” Pruna boasted.
The 6’2” 205 pound linebacker looks like he might have the fortitude to back up his comments.
Canyon Lake will benefit from the experience on the defensive side of the ball and hopefully the ‘rusty’ term will be well behind them when the season starts.
