CL Hawks (22-8) Volleyball team swept Gonzales on Friday going, 2-0 in District 26-4A and setting up a show down this coming Tuesday in Navarro.

There are some decent teams in District 26-4A this year, but only two teams have a solid resume and the Hawk’s next opponent will be that other team.

CL did not take any prisoners on this evening jumping out for a, 25-6 first set victory that would give you an indication of what would happen for this evening.

Gonzales has just 2 wins this season and keeping the game competitive would be difficult on this night for the Apaches.

The Hawks won the next two sets to complete the sweep, 25-10 and 25-15.

In that third game the Apaches would stay close in the match when they closed the gap to a 7 all tie and prompting a seldom used time out by Head Coach Kim Paisley.

On what Paisley said during the timeout, Coach said, “I told them that I better not have to use another one.”

Canyon Lake would finish with a 18-8 run for the go home win.

Outside hitter, Addison Farley, let the Hawks with 12 kills as 8 different players recorded a point.

Sophomore Faith Hasness had the hot hand with her 5 aces serving a lethal dose of points for the Hawks.

Now everything will be focused on Tuesday when Canyon Lake will make the short trek to Navarro for a pivotal game.

With this win over Gonzales, Canyon Lake has tied their longest winning streak at 10 games which was accomplished with last year’s squad. Canyon Lake also has the same exact record (22-8) as the previous season.

CL’s last loss was 3 weeks ago when they lost their only game in the San Marcos Tournament in which the Hawks brought home a Silver Championship after a satisfying win against 6A Weatherford team.

Weatherford is presently 13-3 with a 3-0 record in their district giving you a taste of the type of team your Hawks beat for that Silver Bracket Trophy at the Rattler Tourney.

The Hawks will take their undefeated road record to Navarro with a chance of increasing their record to 5-0.

The ReSporter wants to see the, Navarro Purple Gym, turned Green and Gold next Tuesday as this game will give the winning team an inside track for a district crown.
