Boys Soccer Evens Record in Win over Burnet, 3-1
Canyon Lake Soccer team evened their record last Tuesday when they went on the road and beat Burnet, 3-1.
The Hawks are young this year but the 2-2 record indicates just how much potential this team might have as both losses were lost in the final minutes.
“A win at this point of the year helps build confidence,” Head Soccer Coach Warren Graham stated. “It’s especially important when the game is a close game because it allows the boys to see what they need to do to be able to close out games.”
Coach has zeroed in those losses during this campaign as both of those contests were lost at the finish.
The Hawks had some new names on the scoring sheet against Burnet and that will also prove to be a good sign as more players got involved in the offense.
Mike Thorpe led the scoring with 2 goals while Grayson Rohrbacher kicked the other point into the back of the net.
Matthew Adams, Jaden Balmos, and Mason Blackburn each had an assist as the mayo was spread all over their bread for this win.
Brayden Damico was good on 4 saves in the game helping to keep the Hawks looking good to the end.
“I was very happy with the way we spread the ball out,” Coach Graham closed. “There were several boys who did not score but came close to getting a goal. Having multiple scoring options and getting the ball to those boys more has been and will continue to be a point of emphasis this season.”
CL will be on the road once again this Friday as the Hawks will pay a visit to Liberty Hill to give this team a chance for their 3rd win in a row.
“Having multiple players capable of finding the back of the net makes it difficult for the opposing team to defend us and gives us a better chance of winning games,” Coach Graham succinctly finished.
Here’s to keeping The ReSporter busy as we type out all of those scores.
Go Hawks!!
