====================================================
Canyon Lake has all their sports in action starting this week as Cross Country and Football will start another season.
This week had the Hawk Volleyball team loading up with several games as they started the week sweeping the Lockhart Lions and ended with a tough NEISD Tournament loaded with 6A schools.
The Hawks finished the first day with a 2-1 record and on Saturday CL evened their overall NEISD slate to 3-3.
That last win was over Kerrville Tivy who won the Tex-Fest Tournament last weekend. A good win to end a tough tournament that is weighted with several 6A and 5A Schools.
You can see how the other District 28-4A schools are doing by taking a gander at the District Standings article that will be updated as each week progresses.
At this writing Canyon Lake is in the mix with Fredericksburg, Bandera, and Boerne within striking distance.
This year, Volleyball as well as all other sports besides Football, will have two less schools on their schedule giving coaches some homework in trying harder in getting non-district games to make up for the slack of games.
Cross Country will lace their shoes this coming Saturday with their first meet at Lockhart.
Seeing how this group will perform has everyone wandering how this Hawk team will finish.
Anticipation in seeing good times this year as this is one sport that might have upped their district schedule with the move as all four teams had good season last year.
Football opens their curtain on the road in Blanco and another chance for Canyon Lake to get a huge monkey off of their back as the Panthers have dominated this series the past 3 campaigns.
Last season, Blanco’s defense put a goose egg on CL’s offense and that item tells you how well this school prepares early in the season.
Blanco can play well in the middle and latter part of their season too, as they have made a habit of being highly ranked each year and going far into the playoffs.
Anticipation will be at an all-time high as Canyon Lake starts adding some loaded grades coming up. This could be a year where the tables could be turned.
Another note, The ReSporter, will be sponsoring a webcast on Football games this year and you will be able to link to the site this week and listening to Cory Martelli on play by play and The ReSporter supplying stats.
There will be a run through with the Broadcast this Thursday with the Freshman and Junior Varsity games, if you would like to tune in for play by play action then you are on the site (Hilltop Newspaper) that will link you to the broadcast.
All of the road games are scheduled to be broadcast so if you cannot make those trips on Friday and Thursday nights, then you will be a hook up away from having an up to date Hawk game near your computer or phone.
This will be a great adventure as this endeavor already has the Baseball team wanting to have games broadcast later this school year.
Go Hawks and Beat Blanco!!
