The Hawk Freshman jumped out to a 26 point lead and held their own during the second half in win over Austin Reagan at Noack Field, 26-12.

A hefty dose of Cody Daily to start this game, as he rumbled around end on several carries to amass 120 yards on 7 carries before the first half ended.

Daily had 45 yards rushing on his first two touchdown runs to start the game as Canyon Lake was dominant during the first half.

Case in point had the Raiders with just 17 yards of offense and 0 first downs in that opening two quarters.

CL was the opposite as they finished their first half with 270 yards of total offense which 249 of those steps having the QB  handing off to a back.

The Hawks averaged over 10 yards per touch during that opening 20 minutes of action.

Canyon Lake’s defense only allowed one drive for a touchdown as the Raiders had a 11 play drive covering 67 yards to open that second half.

The negative on that newfound energy coming from Austin Reagan was in taking almost 7 minutes of the 3rd quarter clock which, by doing simple math, would translate in not having enough time to rack up more than 26 points for a win.

Austin Reagan did have a defensive touchdown after a Hawk fumble at midfield and the Raiders had clear sailing to the end zone after securing the pigskin.

Those last points in this game had less than 4 minutes showing, before the handshakes would commence at the 50

yard line in congratulating your opponent for a game well played.

Roberto Vargas finished with 82 yards on the night as he was followed by two Hawks that rushed for 40 yards a piece, Nelson Madera and Daniel Neel.

The ReSporter will give the biggest shout out to Devin Cordell who played on both lines and this young man controlled the trenches as his play reminded you of a bowling ball taking down all the pins on many of the plays.

That Raider’s line of scrimmage just exploded as Cordell penetrated and had Raiders falling all over the place just like those bowling pins.

Cordell had a perfect game in this regard as Austin Reagan had no one to handle this wrecking ball.

Need proof? The Raiders had 77 yards rushing on 25 carries for the game and in that first half when Cordell and defensive line was at their peak, the Raiders went into halftime with 11 yards on 8 carries.

That was a dominating game for the Hawks for the second week in a row as they will now be preparing for Giddings next week and another Hawk Win.

Go Hawks!!
