The ReSporter could only draw stats for 3 of the 4 games played by Lampasas.

Offensively, the Badgers had just one bad offensive game and that was at the hands of Wimberley when Lampasas could only muster 7 points. In those other 3 games the Badgers averaged 41 points per game and the Hawks can certainly vouch for how tough a defensive unit the Texans can put on the field.

Last year, Lampasas had an offensive break out game in scoring 42 points and literally running the Hawks off the field in that Hawk loss. Defensivley, last year’s game, had the    Badgers holding CL to 14 points which was the lowest point total given up by 9 points in Lampasas’ 2-8 season.

So, seeing a Badger team with a 1-3 record should not get the Hawks thinking this game is in the bag based on last year’s outcome. Two years ago, CL could have won that game by reducing the turnover bug as that Hawk team was stricken by fumbleitis in that defeat.

Lampasas is averaging 235 yards rushing and 259 yards passing this year and that will be a tough game defensively for Canyon Lake in guessing if a pass or rushing play will be called.

QB Cohen Cockburn has rushed for 232 yards so containing this dual threat player will pose more concerns in how to stop this offensive Badger player. Cockburn will be the person to watch as he represents 68% of their offense.

The Badgers will also call on Sean Wiilliams for their running game as this player averages 100 yards per game.

A receiving corp of 4 players with over 100 yards will keep the Hawks defensive backs busy while Harrison Gillespie is the main go to guy with 362 yards for a lofty 18 yards per catch average.

This might come down to a who has the ball last game with how well the Badger offense has performed during this season.

Canyon Lake is coming off their worst offensive game this season and the Hawk’s rushing game had their lowest total since the Slot-T was implemented over 3 years ago. CL did not have much luck in controlling the trenches and put themselves in a long and 3rd down conversion plays.

Go Hawks

Defensively, the Hawks, were decent against the run but the Texan’s passing game had Wimberley with more yardage in that one game than what had been garnered in the previous 3 games to start this season.

This will be a tough game for Canyon Lake to get those cobwebs from the previous two years cleared while being in a two game swoon to boot.

How will the Hawks respond? That is why they play the game.

If you show up on Friday then you will have to turn on the lights since this game will be a Thursday date night with the kick-off being 30 minutes earlier than usual.

Show up early and help get a victory for the Hawks!!
