La Vernia would win CL’s district as the Bears have now won against all of the teams but Hondo.

In the Canyon Lake game, ‘The Bears’, eked out a win in that first match, 25-22 and then unleashed every Bee from every Hive on the Hawks in the last two sets, 6-25 and 9-25 ending up with all the honey.

In that first match, the Hawks, were ahead through most of the set and enjoyed a 5 point lead at, 14-9. Then the Bears hugged CL for the remainder of the night, not allowing any breathing for the home team.

From that 5 point lead, La Vernia outscored Canyon Lake, 66 to 23 and had their bus warming up early for their ride home.

There was not much this Hawk team could write home about and conversely, this publication, as you can tell, is having a tough time coming up with anything that was positive to take away from this evening.

LV did not have a full rotation in the 2nd set the Hawks trailed by a, 3-5 score to end up being outscored, 3-20 in finishing this debacle.

Canyon Lake needed a lake close at hand to avoid the swarming bees that the Bears threw on the Hawks as this game concluded.

The good news is having a chance for redemption coming in a week from Tuesday when Canyon Lake will spike off their district games in Boerne.

A win on the road will help in getting off to a fast start for another district championship run.

Go Hawks!!
