JV Lady Hawks Look Smooth in, 51-30 Win over Lampasas

Adia Garcia teams with JV win over Lampasas

Canyon Lake JV-1 squad took care of business in their win over Lampasas before starting district play next week beating the Badgers, 51-30.

Starting the game on a 11-2 run was just what was needed as the Hawks worked back in getting their groove after a long break as Lainee Moses and Caroline Kullberg both finished with 10 points leading CL on this mid-day contest.

Another surprise was seeing Emily Boylan having 12 rebounds with 8 of those rascals being possessed in the last quarter of play.

“I think we just woke up as a team,” Boylan said in response to how well the team seems to be playing as this season progresses. “We are communicating much better and we can read each other’s eyes.”

That was evident with the assists, as that stat, can only work when the passer and receiver are on the same page.

Boylan and Moses each had 4 steals to lead Canyon Lake as the team garnered 20 steals to go along with 11 assists.

A very good start to the Spring Games with a respectable 42 shooting percentage and 40 total rebounds with CL controlling this game from start to finish.

Hawks takes no Bull from Opponents!! Go Hawks

Each player had some strong minutes as Adia Garcia started that trend with 6 points in that first quarter with 4 of those points coming off of offensive rebounds.

Garcia is one of the non-freshman on this JV team as that has been a interesting hurdle with how the team starts to mesh as the season continues.

“We are getting more practice and starting to focus on specifics and our memory is getting better,” Adia recounted. “Understanding the plays more and just getting used to the offense is helping our passing to become easier.”

That was evident in this route as the ball was passed around in crafting some nifty assists as Canyon Lake kept pilling on the points.

The Hawk lead crested at 24 points during the 4th quarter as the Badgers were finally able to get a run as the game came to a close with CL up 21 points.

A no flash 21 point win that comes for a Hawk team that ran a smooth offense and defensive game plan.

Now it will be time to get those same results as District 28-4A comes calling when Boerne meets in the Hawk Nest on January 10th.
