The Hawks Boys Soccer team continues to share the wealth and show some strong play for their games leading up to district as CL ran away from San Marcos Academy, 8-0.

“One thing I have stressed to the boys this year is that in life as in soccer, if you want something you have to earn it,” Head Coach Warren Graham said. “We have to go out every night and earn the other team’s respect. We have to earn the right to play past Spring Break and so far the boys are doing just that.”

Canyon Lake (9-3) is on an 11 game streak of not being shut-out which has never happened in Hawk Soccer since their first game. After ending last year with 7 straight scoring affairs their overall scoring streak has reached 18 contests.

Not only that, but the Hawk defense had a shut-out which adds up to 4 and those goose-eggs have come in the last 6 games.

SMA has played two teams that CL would be familiar with who The Academy lost to, Wimberley 4-1 and Giddings 4-0 as that can shed some light on how well the Hawks have been playing.

Five different Hawks had a hand (foot) in the scoring as Canyon Lake had 6 goals in the first half.

Canyon Lake continues to add to their best offensive game ever as they passed last year’s team two games ago in goals scored in a season. This with one more game before District 27-4A gets going and adding a total of 9 more games before playoffs.

The Hawks had more goals in this one contest than CL could muster total for a season back during the 2013 (3 goals) and 2014 (7 goals) campaigns.

Hawk’s Captains Ready for game time. Jordan Sczech & Grayson Rorhbacher

Another good note is how few times a Hawk opponent is getting a shot on net, San Marcos had 2 total shots on goal which cemented how well the Lake did in manhandling the Bears.

Brayden Damico had both saves for his 4th shut-out and counting.

“Our captains are leading the team in multiple ways, including scoring,” Coach Graham closed. “Jordan Sczech has set the school record for assists in a season and career and Grayson Rohrbacher is closing in on Mike Thorpe’s career record for goals…..we are getting on the board thanks to the work of others and it has been nice to see how we’ve been able to share the wealth.”

CL will now have a game in Pleasanton on Tuesday before district games commence with Boerne coming to the Hawk Nest on Friday, February, 10th.

Congrats and Go Hawks!!
