Canyon Lake will be taking Thursday off this next week as they’re no games scheduled but the rest of the week is in full bloom.
Girls Basketball will have their final game this Tuesday. This always a good time to be in attendance to say good-bye to the Senior. Notice, The ReSporter, mentioned that in the singular way, the Hawks will finish the year having one Senior on the Roster.
Yes, you have heard this already, but the Hawks have been blessed with one of the best Freshman classes in recent memory in Lady sports. It started early with Volleyball and Cross Country as that Freshman Volleyball crew won District.
Basketball has not been let down either, with so many Freshman playing that Coach Zach Burleson had to split the JV Squad into two teams in order to have a place for all the freshman participants.
This will pay dividends in the near future with another year of growing physically and mentally and playing with a lot of repetition that will produce a wealth of talent when tip-off commences next season.
Boys Basketball is enjoying their best season ever and will continue that journey this week with just one game scheduled on Tuesday at Bandera. A win there will keep the Hawks placed 2nd in District 28-4A and a guaranteed place at the table with other schools that made the playoffs.
Canyon Lake is playing for a 2nd seed now and can realize that goal as they are down to 2 remaining contests. Last year, CL was making their first ever appearance in the playoffs and now can boast and hope for a longer run this campaign.
Swimming had a fantastic result in last week’s Region Meet as the Boys finished 8th overall in a field of 23 schools. All the swimmers had their best times during the swim-off and will go to work for a chance of advancing further this time next year.
Boys Soccer has had a successful pre-district and will go for their 10th win this Tuesday at Pleasanton before Boerne comes to town on Friday to start district. This will be the 3rd meeting with Pleasanton and CL is 2-0 so far. Another win gets the school to double digit wins, another first.
Boys Soccer made their first playoff run last year just like the Boys Basketball crew and will be battling for another chance of having T-Shirts made.
Lady Hawk Soccer had their final pre-district game last Friday and beat Floresville, 2-0 and will have a date with Boerne at their track with 7 wins in their locker and a chance of improving their mark when district starts.
Hawk Golf starts this week when the Boys and Girls will drive-off in Sequin. The Boys have first crack at the little round ball on Monday while the Ladies tee-off on Wednesday.
This should be another sport that has a chance of having an improvement over last season’s finish.
Tennis will have their date set for Friday at the Comal Tournament, Ian Hasness finished 2nd in singles two weeks ago and the Hawk Nation will be watching this young man as this season continues.
Track & Field is getting geared up and their season will commence the next week on the Hawk Track with what should be a very exciting Boys and Girls group of athletes. More to come!!!
Go Hawks!!
