Canyon Lake had a smattering of games last week and it did not turn out to be a good week as every team that had a contest found themselves on the losing end of the battles.
The two Soccer teams had losses in their final regular season contests with Fredericksburg and now the Boys and Girls Soccer team will start their preparation for the playoffs.
CL’s district has a bye for their first round games and that will have both Soccer clubs having tune-up games to help keep the players on their game as a lay-off before games will many times work against a school.
The Baseball team have the honor of starting their district games against the best team in district as well as this region. Boerne is used to being on top in this sport and Canyon Lake is still a very young team that will hopefully start to get better results.
CL’s Baseball will have a Tuesday game against Boerne for their final 2-game schedule and then on to Hondo for a Friday game.
Softball will be going through their district schedule by playing each school in a round robin for two games.
The Tuesday game will start with Boerne and this Greyhound club has a 10 run rule win over Bandera that started their District 28-4A schedule last week.
CL’s Softball team will have 12 days of rest before this contest but a game against the Hawk Alumni was a great time by all as this affair welcomed many of the ‘Old Timers’ but it was also a time to pay tribute to two Hawks that have lost their life in the past 7 months.
Heather St. John lost her battle to Cancer last August while Megan Browning had a car accident in January that ended her time here on earth.
These two young ladies will be missed as they both were always in a playing mood with multiple sports played by both. They were teammates on the 2011 Softball team that was the last group to qualify for the Playoffs.
Golf and Tennis will be back in action as the Golf Teams will be in Fredericksburg and our Tennis group will be at East Central ISD Tournament.
Track & Field will be shaking off the cobwebs from their spring break break. (that is redundant but fun to say)
The last time this group of athletes were in action both teams made a mark in Bandera and will work on improving as they will be at the Texans Relays and a short drive for the Hawk Nation.
Welcome back and now get to work Hawks!!
