Coaches Corner with Volleyball’s Kim Paisley

The ReSporter: Give us your overall impression of the pre-district games you have just completed.

            Head Coach Kim Paisley

Coach Paisley: “Our PreSeason schedule ended with three tough teams from our neighboring district. The competition is good for us as we head into district play. These last three teams, Wimberely, Navarro, and LaVernia, are our first possible round in playoffs.”

The ReSporter: How will this year’s District 28-4A group of schools look in comparison to last seasons?

Coach Paisley: “I know Fredericksburg will be tough, along with Boerne. I know Boerne has stepped it up a notch from last year, and they have some new young players looking to lead their team. As far as Bandera and Hondo, I do not count them out for a competitive game, because we are all fighting for district titles and playoffs!”

The ReSporter: You have played the top 3 teams with the district that would be our first round of games….how does that group of schools stack up overall?

Coach Paisley: “La Vernia and Navarro will be battling it out for the district championship, and Wimberley should place 3rd in that district. Although, I do not count Wimberley out of this equation, because it is district and they have nothing to lose. The Texans could pull an upset on one of these nights against La Vernia or Navarro.”

Y4 Custom Homes says Let’s Go Hawks!!

The ReSporter: You are always preaching consistency with your teams, what grade would you have for this year’s team as they enter district play?

Coach Paisley: “We must keep passing and doing serve receive drills in our practice consistently because you can’t do anything else in the game without a pass! Varsity has struggled with keeping intensity throughout the match. Our girls need to be consistent with their intensity every match from this point onward due to every match counts and it could easily be anyone’s night! Fear none, Respect all!”

The ReSporter: Give us your overall thoughts with the Sub-Varsity teams as they both have winning records and continue to play well.

Coach Paisley: “Our Sub-varsity teams have great opportunities to be at the top in district this year. They have had some great matches won under their belts in preseason and at tournaments. We are excited to see JV and Freshman battle it out for their District Championship!”

The ReSporter: Thanks Coach and I hope the Hawks have a good week!
