The Hawk Volleyball team will enter into District 28-4A competition this week where all the games are for keeps.
It has not been a smooth ride thus far, but CL will enter into this part of their campaign with the 2nd best record, trailing only the Fredericksburg Billies.
Canyon Lake had a bye last Friday as the other 4 teams took to action and Fredericksburg and Boerne both came away with wins.
The Boerne vs. Bandera contest went 5 games but the Greyhounds won by a nose. (that usually is the case when comparing a Greyhound to a Bulldog)
CL will then take to the road as they travel to Hondo for their Friday contest and hopefully a sweep as this part of the season does not go long based on having just 5 schools that compete. It takes a little more than a month to have the places set for who makes the playoffs and finding out that first round opponent.
For the Hawk Football team, another close loss to Wimberley and now it will be time to reevaluate and try to repeat last year’s scenario.
Canyon Lake had a 6 game winning streak after the Texan loss last year and a repeat and more would do just fine for this Hawk team.
Take into account that both of those losses were to teams ranked in the Region with Wimberley getting votes for Top 10 accolades.
CL’s JV football team will be trying to turn the tables after a loss last week. While the Hawk Freshman took care of business in a convincing win over Wimberley, 26-16.
Those Sub-Varsity games will start at 5pm with the Freshman team followed by the Junior Varsity right after that contest.
Canyon Lake’s Cross Country will be off to Round Rock as that will have an early departure for the McNeil Invitational.
This is the final week for September action and the Hawks will need a lot of fans to come out and watch the games.
This week’s football game in Lampasas will be covered by the Canyon Lake Broadcasting Network where you will have a lot of opportunities to win prizes while listening to the game.
If you cannot make the drive then tune in as you can find the Link on the home page.
Go Hawks!!
