Canyon Lake will try to continue their winning ways when they meet up with the Akins Eagles this Friday at the Hawk Nest.

                   Go Hawks!

Akins is presently on a 3 game losing streak after starting this year’s campaign with a win over Crockett. The Eagles had a bye week this past Friday and that will play into their favor as your Hawks do not have an open date until another month from now.

Akins’ Malcolm Rogers will have a lot of Hawk eyes trained on him as he leads the Eagles with 438 yards rushing for a 110 yard average with 113 yards receiving. Rogers has scored 7 times as there is just two other players with more than one for this season.

Jeremiah Brown will also be on the Hawk defensive back’s mind as this receiver has 41% of all the catches on this team. That has translated to 419 yards so far which is more than 100 yards average per game.

Quarterback Nick Cagle has a 58% completion rate with an accuracy of having one interception for Akins. Those are some good numbers.

These three players will need to be stopped for giving CL a chance for a win.

The Hawks have been nicked and bruised since the season has started and with District 14-4A less than two weeks away, Canyon Lake will see how this team stands after a battle with a 6A school.

Mima's says good game Freshman Hawks!!Canyon Lake proved that a Slot-T offense is a hard offense for a school to face when those encounters include just one game per season.

That will be important as a Hawk team that continues to take care of the ball can only lead to draining a clock which will make a spread offense antsy when they get on the field.

CL has 7 players that have over 100 yards on the ground with all of those Hawks with an average 5 yards or above per carry, which with simple math can tell you that two carries will equal a first down.

Last year, Canyon Lake had their best rushing game in their history up to that contest, with 469 yards.  That will hopefully continue as this Eagle team is scoring right at 30 points per game.

The flip side has Akins allowing 34 points per game and that will give you an idea of how CL can leave the field of play this Friday with a win.

Go Hawks!!
