Canyon Lake lost their traction in the final period losing to Jourdanton, 70-58 at the Hawk Nest.

This was anybody’s game going into the 4 quarter and the Indians were able to take care of the ball while sinking shots to put enough space between the two combatants and the inevitable win for Jourdanton by 12 points.

“We are still just too inconsistent,” Head Coach Lucas Chapman said. “If we could have reduced those turnovers, then we could have scored 80 points.”

CL finished the first half shooting 52% but then a lid was latched onto the Hawk’s rim as their shooting sunk to 33% as scoring points became a much harder part of the game for the home team.

Caimen McDonough was the big man on campus for this contest as he finished with a solid double-double scoring 14 points that was almost matched with 13 rebounds and 7 of those on the offensive side of the court.

Parker Mott finished with 15 points to lead Canyon Lake and Tae Gray joined McDonough in the double figure rebound category snatching 10 off the glass.

The major downfall came with 29 turnovers compared to the Indians having 10 for the game and that was the difference between a win and loss.

Canyon Lake shot 62% in the 2nd stanza to make for the 5 point deficit sending both teams into their locker room all tied up, 29 all.

With Jourdanton capitalizing on steals in the 3rd period, CL was still within striking distance going into the final quarter trailing, 47-44.

Canyon Lake was still within 3 points at the 5 minute mark after a sweet assist from Tae Gray to McDonough. That combination of Gray to McDonough was pulled off 4 times during the contest as that guard penetration helped set-up some easier baskets for the big men.

For the next 3 minutes, Jourdanton took control of the game and increased their lead to 10 points with 2:20 showing on the clock.

Canyon Lake could not capitalize down the stretch as the Indians set-up a pow-wow on the charity stripe ending the game up by 12 points.

Canyon Lake will be back on the road next week as the Hawks still work on consistency and getting more work in their chemistry class before the Christmas Break.

Go Hawks!!
